LED Reflector Install
« on: April 18, 2017, 07:16:56 PM »
I've done this upgrade on my Burgman 650 before and liked it so here it is on the MyRoad 700i. There are some better ones available now for less money I used here. I have replaced all the reflectors with 2 way LED lighted ones, most recently from eBay. These are wired to light when the bike is turned on, the side lights flash brighter with the turn signal, and the rear lights brighter with the brake lights.

I have now learned just how to take off more of the MyRoad's bodywork on this project and some things aren't well thought out assembly wise. Example to get the lower handle bar cover off one has to remove the throttle cables because they run through it. A couple of issues first with taking off the right switch gear to get at the throttle cables. Kymco apparently puts all this over the bar and on the bike. Removing the top cover isn't as simple as my Burgman. Remove two screws underneath and you can get the top up a little but because the wires for the hazard switch run in front of the bar and the run/stop switch behind the bar you have to get in there with a screwdriver and take out one screw to take the hazard switch out before having enough access to get at the throttle cables. Next the throttle cable adjustment isn't enough to get the cables out and back in requiring body panels be removed to get at the throttle body end. Then the forward most throttle cable threads directly into the lower plastic body switch gear. To get that out would require removing the throttle cable completely or the switch gear wiring so you could spin one off the other. They really need a lessen from the Japanese here is construction (The Burgman is logical and easy).

Here's a video link on how they work, might not be as visible during the day but great at night.

On my Burgman 650  I also added this really cool lighted license plate frame from Radiantz. I got the black one with amber turns. It has LED's for the license plate (white) and I added a resistor and two diodes so the brake light also works as a running light. I will added it to the MyRoad and my other bikes as I can afford but I put in the wiring for it while I was in there.
