Response from Kymco USA - Re: CDI De-Restrict etc
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:06:32 PM »
Hey guys, finally got a response from Kymco USA regarding CDI De-Restrict for my Like 50 4T. Or so I thgought..... This Is what I sent them..

Hello,
Could you please tell me how to remove the rev limiter from the CDI on my Kymco Like 50 4T please? My Colleague had previously DE-restricted his Super 8 by cutting a pink wire to the CDI, however I'm not sure how to DE-restrict the Like 50 4T.

Kind regards,
Joshua Cinzio

Then I got a response....

Dear Mr. Cinzio,

There are no CDI restrictions on the Like 50 2T that we import to the USA. The only DE-restriction required is changing the boss drive in the CVT and increasing the Main jet to a #82. We currently do not import the Like 50 4T. Our instructions are below:

FOLLOW THESE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO DE-RESTRICT THE AUTOMATIC CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

                                        1. REMOVE BOLTS (8MM) HOLDING CLUTCH COVER AND REMOVE COVER.

                                        2. REMOVE 17MM NUT FROM FRONT PULLEY.

                                        3. REMOVE OUTER HALF OF PULLEY (DRIVE PULLEY FACE).

                                        4. REMOVE DRIVE BELT FROM SHAFT.

                                        5. WITH YOUR LEFT HAND, HOLD INNER HALF OF PULLEY (MOVABLE

DRIVE FACE), AND WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND REMOVE BOSS FACE DRIVE

(VARIATOR SPACER) CAUTION: HOLD INNER PULLEY HALF SECURELY TO

INSURE CLUTCH ROLLER WEIGHTS REMAIN IN PROPER POSISTION.

                                         6. INSERT NEW SPACER. PART #22105-KGBG-901.

                                         7. REASSEMBLE IN REVERSE ORDER (STEPS 4-1)

CAPACITOR DISCHARGE IGNITION DERESRICTIONS (CDI)
THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON THE CDI

I guess this is good news for you Like 50 2T owners out there, however I'm still assuming mine does not have a CDI rev-limiter as well.....  ???

Josh.
