Considering the price, at least in our country, (125 cc for the price of other 300 cc scoot; 300 cc for the price of other 500 cc scoot), it will not be exactly necessary to open it...

The price of the 300 is the same as the Nexus 300 for example.. it't not THAT expensive, and considering it's
got the power of most 400cc scoots, I don't think it costs too much.

There's a nice review from 'motorevija' on kymco.hr web site, it won the 7 250-300cc scoot comparo, the xciting 300ri
was 5th! I can't seem to find a single negative thing about it, other then wanting a few more HP, but I'm thinking it would
do nicely anyways.

I ask for a downtown subforum, independing on 125/300.

Here at Spain, the Kymco Super Dink 125i   it is probably one of the most sold scooters. ¿why? because if you have a driving licence for car, you can drive motorcycles up to 125  cc or 15 cv. (I believe 15 cv is the same that 15 hp) probably at the whole europe it is the same or probably similar. We are changing laws in order to get the same at everywhere (more or less this is the idea, i think).
I don't know there, but here there are something more than 1000 euros of difference between the 125 and the 300i, but if you want to drive a 300, you need to get a new licence for motorcycles between 15 and 47 hp, if my memory is fine.

I think that this is the reason of the superior sales of this model.

So, that's the reason for asking the subforum......  jejeje

If I have to stop, I will die.

That's a good deal kiki.

In America you can only drive a 50 cc scooter without getting the upgraded license.

Same here, only 50cc, but that's not an issue for me since I have a full motorcycle
licence and a few years of riding behind me. Virtually no one here will buy the 125
because you need the same licence for both and the price difference is not that big.

I just can't make my mind up between the Downtown 300i and Xciting 500Ri..

It varies from state to state, actually. In Tennessee, up to 125cc without a motorcycle endorsement (but in all cases, must have a valid operator license -- some states waive that requirement for 50cc-and-under, hence "liquorcycles").

Welcome back to the forum!

And thanks for that correction - I had never heard of any state that allowed a 125 without the M endorsement.

Anyone know if there any other states that allow over 50 cc without the motorcycle endorsement?

Here it was the same, a few years before the laws changed.

There's another matter concerning this: The fuel cost. Here, one litter cost 1,30 Euros. My scooter spend 3,6 l/100 Km. The same of 300cc.spend more or less one litter more. I don't know the fuel price there, but I've seen 1 Gallon costed 1,7 dollars. It has 3,79 liters.

This means that here cost a litter the same than there a gallon. 3,79 times more expensive here...

Note that it is very important to save as more fuel as possible. 1 ,6 litters /mile it is a lot of fuel...., and many money.

If I have to stop, I will die.

Wish that were the case.

Here regular unleaded is up to around $3 a gallon, premium unleaded us $3.20.

And prices are going up each week.

And it is a very good point you make kiki.

The savings in fuel and especially parking makes me wonder why many more people aren't riding them.

Last time gas prices spiked up very high, a lot of people ran out and bought scooters and motorcyles for just that reason.

Of course, once prices went back down, a lot of people then sold them and got back in the car.

Sure. Here, some Mayors are trying the people moves by motorcycle. That's the reason why they leave us to park at the sidewalks with no paying for that, also, you can go by the bus-taxi lane. I believe that this is the reason why here we buy this kind of motorcycles.
I go sometimes by car, sometimes scooting, depending on the wheather (if it rains or if it is  been windy, I don't take my scooter).
So, depending on the distance. If I have to make more than 30 or 40 kilometers, I go by car. The only exception it is if I go like walking, to take pictures, slowly, etc...
If I have to stop, I will die.

You are lucky to find gas as low as $3.05 USD for the least expensive unleaded. The premium is always at least $3.20; and as much as $3.60 per gallon.

... and I still want a Downtown 300i.  It is likely to happen this spring.

FYI... I am riding this winter. Not today though; but I don't know why not... it is nice today.
