Picked up some Castrol 80W90 gear oil.  The stores here only sell 15W40 in gallon jugs, so is it ok to use a quart of 10W40 instead.  I will probably get a synthetic for the motor oil.  Good news, my son passed his basic rider training course this weekend.  Now we are just waiting on the headlight bulb so we can take the scooter down to the DMV for a safety check before he can get his Moped License.

I could not find straight 90 locally, so the consensus is that 80w90 gear oil should also work.

Update.  We finally got through the DMV maze and my son passed his moped skills test this morning so he is now licensed to ride solo on public streets.

Since getting the bike we have: replaced the mirrors with City style ones off eBay (thanks Streido), replaced the headlight bulb, notched the CDI and changed the oil.

Sitting in front of me I have the smooth variator boss, the 82 jet and 5.5gram roller weights (thanks Exe).  Waiting for my electric impact driver to get here from Harbor Freight to tackle the CVT mods.

We also need to change the spark plug while I have the carburetor off.  Should we use a CHAMPION-P-RZ9HC or an NGK Iridium plug?

If the $3 or $4 difference is not a financial problem the iridium is a superior plug . Good luck .
