You may want to also double check that the drive belt isn't riding up over the edge of the variator. I've had this happen when really squeezing some of the CVT's for every last drop. With the wider belt, I wouldn't be surprised if it's happening. I have a bunch of chopped up CVT covers that I use to fit to the bike and rev up on the stand so I can watch the CVT work to make sure nothing crazy is going to happen (like hitting the starter bendix on the Agility 50). It sounds silly, but it's interesting to watch the CVT work when you hook up a timing light and flash it at the belt. The "stop motion" of watching under a strobe might lend a different perspective... Nothing ground breaking or whatever, it's just neat to watch.
I don't think some of the parts manufacturers do a lot of R&D on their product. I can post up some examples when I get some good time at the computer... So far I haven't had a chance to post up my photos and videos of the races, so... Might be a while. :/
