2 Kymco Super 8 150 questions.
« on: December 24, 2012, 06:49:41 AM »
First off let me say Merry Christmas to all and thanks for all the great advise.  Now for my questions.

1. I just bought a 2012 Super 8 150 and notice below the headlights I have 2 smaller bulbs that seem to serve no purpose.  They do not turn on with my brights nor my turn signals.  Anyone know what these lights are for and how to turn them on?
2. Anyone know if they make OEM LED lights to replace the factory ones?  I have searched the web and pretty much came up with blanks.

Thanks again,
Gary

If youre in the US then its probably holders for the Euro spec versions. We have them connected to lights but the US versions dont. Agility has similair lights too. You can hook them up if you want to.

Surprising but true there is never any info on which lights are installed from the factory.
The manual will say 1.2W or 5W but not the type. So you have to search around and figure
out what will work. The "Fake" lights are probably T10 base bulbs. You can buy these as
generic LED's on EBAY. The brake light is usually 1157 or the equivalent euro bulb. Turn
signals are 1156 or if yellow a special base which is offset from 1156 or something special
for the housings.  Kit's to convert to LED's are usually only on super popular models, I haven't
seen any for Kymco scooters....

The little bulbs I was talking about do look like T10's so those shouldn't be a problem to find a comparable led.  However, since it appears they are only there to fill a hole and not actually a functioning light I'm not sure it's worth messing with.  Maybe I'll call Kymco customer service and see what they have to say about why they are on there.

Usually they are for the blinkers but DOT requires a certain distance between them so
they leave those blank and mount some "lolipops" elsewhere. Some of the scoots came
with a harness to put them back...

THere is a wire running from the base of the bulb holder to somewhere.  Can't tell for sure, but they look to run into the dash cluster

Those are park lights. They turn on first before the headlights. But they automatically turn off when you fully switch to the headlights.  U.S. versions do not have park lights and park light switches...

I replaced the ordinary t10 bulbs to super bright flat leds on my Super 8....
