Half way done
« on: April 29, 2013, 12:20:46 AM »
So the last few days I've been doing a few mods. First changed the spark plug to the CR7EIX. Then switched all the rear lights to LED. Added the Givi SR92 rack to mount the Bestem Tbox. The wiring was a little trickier then I wanted it to be. I was at first going to wire it like scootinchris did but it keep shorting out the main fuse, so I went with option B. Then I added strip LED's to the mirrors.

Next up new wind screen, 3M orange reflective tape to the rims and hook up the front lights

Tried to put pics but for some reason they are not showing.

They are here.

Nice work pugdog. I'm hoping some top box manufacturer will come out with a box the isnt so roundish and possibly even follow the lines on the DT 300. Did you add the extra lighting out of a safety concern or just for grins?

Looks great. I've got a very similar top case on my Grand Vista and put some led's behind the lens. They make you much more visible from behind. I was able to fit 3 strips - 1 in the center for running lights and 2 for brake lights.

You can never have too many lights!

Moparkid the brake lights in the box came with it. Only an extra $30 for the LED strip which is both running and brake lights. The LED strips in the mirror was a mixture of safety and for the grins. I got the idea from someone with it in a Burgman.

did you drill a hole through the mirror to wire them, looks great,.   it would be good for me, cant hear the ticking of the turn signals , and leave them on to long,.  I have a e55 top box but I find the lights are not very good,  very small,.  I have a other top box E360 and it looks a little like pugdogs the differance in givi boxes and others is not that much,

I unscrewed the light out of the mirror and spliced the LED strip into the wires. The LED strip has adhesive on the backside that I placed around the edge of the mirror. Do be careful with placement, I didn't on one side and I could not adjust the mirror where I wanted it. When I tried to move it it ripped in half and I had to order another one. Only $11 but still...

I got a strip light 5 feet long you are supose to be able to cut it to length you want, and solder wires to it, but the solder points are so small, do I put a heat sink on it to solder or what?

I bought 2 half meter strips and cut them down so I wouldn't have to solder to them. I know you can do that to some of them though.
