Title: 0ne quart
Post by: ispud on August 04, 2009, 07:14:52 PM
As I see it I will need to put in one quart of oil when I change it.  Is this true?

Yes,as long as a quart is equal to 9 dl.  8)

As axy implied, you'll have a bit left over. 900mL is the refill amount (and every oil bottle I've seen lately shows the increments in mL). You don't want to overfill, btw.

When I did the math .9L = .95 quart.  Was just wondering if when someone had actually done this it took a quart.  Sounds like this is the case.

Where the heck is the screen you are supposed to clean - they don't bother showing it in owners manual - which btw is a real pos.  Excuse my language, but it might take someone 8 hours to rewrite this into complete and understandable English.  I must admit there are a few good laughs in there, but trying to figure it out is more of a challenge than its worth.

The screen is in the LARGE bolt at the bottom of the oil pan (underneath) close to the dipstick.  You'll want to drain the oil first, then remove this bolt.  The bolt has a spring on the inside and the strainer goes inside the spring.  When I clean my strainer, I just use a little gasoline.

So, on Agility 125 there is just one drain bolt (that has a strainer inside) while on People 250, drain bolt and filter (screen) bolt are separate?

Thanks for the info!!

I found the service manual a couple pages back and took it out and cleaned it yesterday.  Kind of suprised that there is no filter (that screen looks cheesey - giant openings) and that the scooter only holds one quart.

One thing for sure - I will be buying a much better torque wrench!

When checking oil level I want to assume you don't screw the dip stick in - just put it in as far as it goes without screwing it in and then pull it out and read it.  My Aprilia says this in the owners manual, but I can't find any specifics in the Kymco manual.

Also on the side - I thought I had scored a nice one yesterday when I found a service manual for the 250s.  I dl'd it and found several chapters are not there - ???

Edit - I was WRONG it is in the manual big time!!  says (Don't screw it in) - sorry - not sure how I missed that.

I used Shell Rotella T - 15-40 - Walmart - less than 3 bucks per quart.  I left about 115ml in the can and the level appears full on the bike.

No there is also a separate drain bolt on the Agility.  Its on the same side as the gear oil filler and drain bolts.  Its the bolt a the bottom (corner i think) of the oil pan.  I dont have the Agility anymore or i'd go look, but I think thats where it is.

Now I am confused. Jprestonian told me in a separate thread that there is no other drain bolt, just the one where the filter (screen) is.
