Title: Back to windscreens
Post by: Momma bear on February 14, 2014, 10:16:23 AM
Has anyone used a slipstream windshield? I've seen these on a few sites and they have a universal 13 inch model. I really don't want a tall windshield. Or does anyone know what it would cost to cut down a windshield. I don't want to lose the directionals and those 20 inch shields are way too tall. Thanks
Ride safe

I checked Slipstreamer's website and see they have several universal screens for scooter that don't measure too high, but some that are much higher. Don't know anything specifically about them, but since they are made of acrylic they are quite easy to cut with a regular wood blade on a bandsaw. I've done this myself on MC windscreens and many airplane canopies.

I just put a GIVI on mine.  I cut it down 3.5 inches.  It still may be too high for you but it is easy to cut with a side grinder and a little sand paper to smooth the edge.  I used the grinder to cut off the tabs on the blinkers and they fit back on perfectly.  I also put bulbs in the Euro blinkers so I have both sets working.  I thought I may have to ditch the USA blinkers but just a little mod did the trick.

Hi, mommabear,

I just two weeks ago bought a GT300i, and the only negative thing about it was the lack of a windscreen.

I bought an Airstream Scooter66 windscreen, and from what I can tell it's going to be a very good wind blocker. Although I've only had it mounted for three days,,the riding I've taken with it has been very positive. The way I've adjusted the mounting, the screen clears the headset by probably 1", but that's working out very well for me. I look over the screen so I can see the roadway approx. 30' ahead (I'm 6' tall).

The model 66 looks much better than the photo of it on Amazon's site, and I think it was under $80 shipping included.

It's too bad you can't find a Biondi anywhere. That's what I bought last year and I love it. Easy install, turn signals stay where they are, and good wind protection for me. It even moved the mirrors up and out for better visibility.

I've got a Biondi windshield that I would be willing to sell. The mounts and one windshield are lightly used (with the exception of 4 holes I put in it to mount the MRA deflector), BUT, I have a brand new un-used windshield blade. PM me if interested.

Hi, MB
I installed a Slipstreamer #66 universal on my GT300i and am VERY happy with it...it's not too tall at all for me (6' ) . Clears the Kymco "windscreen" by about 1/4" and the front of the headstock by 2" or so, and the Kymco "windscreen" seems to push the wind coming up between the #66 and the headstock out to the side, so it really never bothers me.

Anyway, I'm very happy with it.
