Title: Oil inside airbox
Post by: Powersport14 on September 02, 2014, 05:39:09 PM
I just noticed some oil on the gearbox next to the rear wheel. Took my air box apart and it had oil in it on the filter and on the bottom edge of the box. Oil appears to be leaking out of the air box and down onto the gearbox but where could the oil be coming from?

Have you changed gear oil recently?
if you over fill the gear oil the excess oil will be evacuated through a pipe into the back of your air filter box. on the bottom of the box there is a small hole where this excess oil will drip out and make the final drive housing messy...
the oil should not be able to soak your filter.

two  years ago I filled to the fill hole , and the oil was soaking the filter and dripping out the bottem, so measure  the oil very carefully,.

Don't forget to drain the airbox hose too, the clear one with a cap on the end. If oil is on the airbox it's in that hose too

The oil gets blown up thru the breather, instead of onto the road. It's normal.
