Title: Checking oil
Post by: mverps on October 15, 2014, 06:09:55 PM
I keep reading differing opinions on this. Do you check the oil with the dipstick unscrewed, or do you screw it back in and then out to check it?
thanks, Mike

unscrewed.
The action of jiggling it around, lining up the threads, twisting it in/out can give a false reading.
You get a kind of cotton candy effect.

thanks, I read in one manual to check it unscrewed, and in another manual to check it screwed in. So you can see my confusion. I appreciate your input.

Also, obvious, but make sure it is on the center stand on level ground!!!! You have no idea how many customers I've had over-fill their oil because they had it on the kickstand!!
