Zombie must be hiding in the palmettos from The Man, again....so it might be safe to report that we have another Honda in the garage.
My son and I found a 2014 CB500X for him - with 1500 miles on the clock - and 7 months of factory warranty remaining - for a pretty good price from a nearby dealer.
Poor kid went clear across Ohio recently to buy a 650 of some kind - only to have the dealer sell it before he got there - even though he called twice to confirm that he was on the road and coming with cash in hand.
I'm no expert - but have done a few car purchases, and a pair of scooter purchases recently - so I stepped in to do some polite bargaining and he came home with a pretty solid bike. The X is an upright riding position, big boned version of the street CBR500, almost 32" in the saddle. I helped him out on some of the price on the condition that he agree to wear a new hi viz leather Icon and a new hi viz full face helmet.
I continue to be impressed with the price and quality of some Honda bikes. 500 used to be a big bike - no more - but it's plenty big enough.
He got the white version of this...

The three versions of the 500's....the X is on the left, R in the middle and the naked F on the right...(http://i58.tinypic.com/2ynj6nm.jpg)
Don't really need another child to worry about out there on the roads - but I'm learning how little control I have over things....
So, I put hi viz on him, got him up off of the tank, will turn him over to God.

Very nice indeed.
Yeah back in the day a 500 was a big bike now it sits in the middle of the pack.
Poor thing only has enough power to go twice the posted speed no matter what that is.
Enjoy the rides. We can't live if we worry about the what "life" may bring.
Safe travels to you both.

Hopefully he has (Or will ) taken the MSF Safety course. Invaluable ( as he is ) .
Safe rides ahead to both of you . :D

Yes, he took the class with me in 2013 on a Air Guard base. He A'ced it. I didn't like the slow stuff. (The slow speed "figure 8's in a bathroom" are hard on a senior's equilibrium.)
Bonding with an 18 yr old on our bikes.....good times.

Enjoy the bonding and the rides.
I had no problem with the figure 8 ( Not in a bathroom, though ;) . It was the lining up of bikes and another person going to wrong spot causing me to suddenly brake while turning (doesn't work well :( ) and lay thebikedown . I passed, she did not.
