Title: Decreasing weight of the Xciting
Post by: guile on May 11, 2015, 08:52:46 AM
Anyone have any ideas on how to decrease the weight of the X?

I can come up with these ideas:
- third party exhausts are often much lighter than stock
- Li-ion battery is much lighter than normal batteries
- thingy onder the seat that holds the seat up
- anything you care with you (including yourself)

And??

Perhaps eating fewer burgers?

I did most of those things you mentioned; lithion battery, Zard exhaust which is about 5 lbs lighter and that's dead weight. Seems to run better, definitely smooth and lively and better mileage, slightly better, since I installed the Zard. Also have home-made air filter out of Unifoam which is used by motocross racers. Getting 50mpg, except when loaded for s'camping - scooter camping - when I carry a tent, bedroll, water and food.

Haven't tried the burger thing, because I don't eat burgers often, and when I do, I prefer veggie burgers. Coffee now, well, that liquid is pretty heavy so I try to leave as much of that behind as possible.

Eat four squares of X Lax. Wait one week.
You will be a little faster.

O yea, it doesn't matter what you eat!.

wow guys, not much creativity here!  ;D

The center stand could be removed
Under the seat there are two hooks to secure your helmet with. They can be removed.

Yes, it is heavy.I dropped mine and needed help righting it again. Ideas to reduce weight. Get a low profile sports screen. Get rid of the top box. Remove the hand rail. Remove, or cut back the rear wheel cover. Remove the handle bar cover. Replace handle bar wrights with lightweight aluminium ones.

I find a little weight makes for a more stable ride when the north winds blow. Here in south Texas we have a saying: there is nothing between us and the north pole except some barbed wire in El Paso.

Purge the tires and fill with nitrogen.  You will save an electron with each atom.  That should add up to a lot of zeros.
