Hi,
I have been looking around for a scooter, and this seems to be the largest produced by Kymco available in the UK. I'm posting here in the 500 forum as it is the closest thing to the 500.
What is the reliability of Kymco like? One review in particular was enlightening, in that it said that BMW used the engine and Yamaha had taken a Kymco scooter and badged it as their own. Reading around generally, and they seem to get high praise for reliability. Even the instrument cluster matches the BMW.
I'm looking for a scooter suitable for motorway use, without red-lining just to maintain 70 MPH.
Any 400i owners here able to shed any light on what it is like? I think I may have found a dealership near me that has one to look at, but it will be a week or two before I'm able to go take a look.

I am on my second Xciting 500. My 07 had 36,000 plus miles, about 48 kilometers, when I sold it and it still was running great. Got a decent price for it. My current ride is an 09 which has 34,500 miles, about 46,000 kilometers, and it is smooth as silk. Runs great on highway at 70 mph all day long. And I load it down with tent and bedroll and stove and food and go camping with no problem Just returned from a 400 mile trip, was gone four days. Love my Xciting.
Of course, it's customized to fit me.

I can't speak about the 400 but I love my 500cc xciting. It will maintain 70 MPH (113 KPH) all day without red lining. I used to ride a Suzuki Burgman before which had a 400cc engine in it and it would also be able to maintain highway speeds.
The Kymco compared to the Burgman is a sports bike.

I ride the xciting 250i and red line it to 70mph +
No problems with it
The only thing i noticed was every 600-700 miles it loses 50-60cc oil
No visible oil leaks but it makes sense red lining it for 45 min with no stops 50 miles
