I dumped my ride in an empty side hill theater parking lot (no such thing as a level one except Walmart here). When buffing out the paint I went through the adjacent paint to primer extremely easily a couple times. Damage was to left side panel, right on the crease. I think I looked at the curb I wanted to miss rather than look where I wanted to go. I was practicing a sloped right hand turn. Got trapped underneath, had to call wife's daughter to help lift it off.

If I could use my bike I would in an instant, in Springfield & Joplin they supply the rides. Shifting and clutching learned there seemed to me to be counter productive (ive been shifting and clutching for over 60 years) as may be the light cycles that I can't throw my leg over any longer. A facility in Phoenix area advertises a scooter only course, using your own bike, thought I'd do that this winter.

A dealer may be able to get you touch up paint? Or at least give you a code # so you could get some at an auto paint store. Practice makes perfect. :-*

Considering what the MSF instructors are trying to get you to do you may want to reconsider using your own bike. There is a time limit on the final, ya know! We did the course in FL where both scoots and motorcycles were supplied.

Just take a panel into any auto paint supply house. They can custom match it for you. They all have the mixers, and the computer scanner now.
Ps... I spent the entire night under a bike in a strip joint parking lot once. It's as fun as it sounds.

I took the front fender to O'Reillys, they ran it under the scanner, inside no match, outside Harley white ice pearl, it was too light, they added some black, better but no cigar, they said the pearl was a spray coat after base coat before clear, I dunno. I emailed the dealer in Fayetteville AR, no answer yet.

O'Reilly's is a high school job or like home depot, the fellas that can't run with the big dawgs work there. You need a REAL paint house. Every city has at least one.
There are what they call 3 stage paints that have a base color, pearl intermediate coat, and clear coat finish.
Even an expert painter will have a hell of a time matching the pearl.
2 stage paints contain the pearl in the base, and are easier. The clear coat remains the same.
Then there is single stage (which is what we have on these scoots) They are color/pearl/and glossifier in one can.
Go to a REAL paint house, and ask for single stage in your match.
It's a non issue. Maybe 50 bucks for a quart (smallest amount for custom blends).
This is a large part of what I do for a living. One of my scooters has been painted 5-6 times in the same amount of years.

Any suggestions where to/go for a complete novice, then what, tell 'em what I got, take it in, take a piece in?? Dealer did not get back on the email, I normally need to go to Fayetteville every month or 2, I can stop and talk by hand. Sometimes more effective.

The best the dealer can do is supply a paint code. That only applies to the vendor for paint Kymco uses. No use to us...
Take in the panel you want to paint or one adjacent to it. Be aware of sun fade, and try to keep on the same area of the bike. Your photo wont help. It has to be an actual panel to match.
Look in the yellow pages for Auto Paint around your area, ad ask for a single stage paint. It will be a paint, and a catylist. (2 part). No thinner is needed. Use a preval bottle to spray the paint. Practice on a garbage can or similar slick surface first.
