Thanks for all the help in my post about transporting my scooter. I am a new rider and new to this forum, so I have a lot to learn. What type of safety gear do you use? I am guessing the weather will have some impact on what you wear. What gear do you use in cold weather, hot weather and when it is raining? Maybe you use one type of gear on a short commute to work and something else for a long weekend ride. Thanks again. Forums like this have saved people from serious mistakes...perhaps saved lives.

I am still interested in safety gear, but it looks like I will get no help from this forum. It does look like others are interested too, but no suggestions have been made. So, I will look for information from other sources. From my research the three most important items in order of their value are: 1) a full-face helmet; 2) a good pair of motorcycle gloves; and, 3) a good pair of motorcycle boots. I thought a good motorcycle jacket would make the top three, but the jacket only made it to fourth place. I wonder if scooter riders think it is safe to ride without protective gear because scooters are so easy to ride?

I ride with a protection jacket with detachable interior for winter and summer. Average gloves with some lill proteccion and a full face helmet.
If it rains i park it and take the bus or get a ride.... not worth to get wet or involved in an accident.
My jacket is this...

HI Viz mesh summer jacket with armor and Hi viz all seasons corduroy jacket with armor. Always gloves and most off the time jeans with Kevlar lining. Neither jacket was very expensive. The jeans were $79. The all seasons jacket has venting but the mesh is much cooler in 90 degree weather in town. The jeans are toasty in the summer but great in cool weather. Got it online from competition accessories free shipping over $49

I wear a S&S modular helmet, leather/mesh jacket with removable liner. Also kelvar reinforced cargo pants with removable knee pad inserts and leather service type high top boots. I also wear a cheap construction type hi-viz vest over my jacket on occassion.
For rainy weather, i will have to wait and see. They say it will actually rain this winter. I would not ride in the rain here until the 6 months of oil and goo have been sufficiently washed away from the roads.
