Title: Possible Xciting 500 Air Filter Compatability
Post by: TeamTEOR2 on October 17, 2015, 08:32:05 PM
So I came across these filters at Sears for $9.99. They are 4.5" W x .75" H x 5.25" L, so just a little thinner than our OEM Kymco filters which are 1.25" as opposed to the 0.75". I thought that it would be be nice to pass this along in case someone does not want to pay the $45-$50 for the OEM/Dealer part. You could add a piece of weather stripping to create the tabs that the OEM filter has or use a couple of globs of RTV Gasket Sealer to make up for those tabs not being there. Perhaps there is an actual hi flow filter that is a direct replacement for this filter and we no longer would need to modify the OEM/Dealer filters.

Just a heads up.
If you purchase one of these filters and add RTV Silicone Gasket Maker make sure it is Oxygen Sensor-Safe
Because Kymco's xciting 500ri has a Oxygen Sensor plain old Silicone sealer flumes being sucked in through the air intake will ruin your O2 sensor.  Permatex is one manufacturer who makes Oxygen Sensor-Safe gasket maker.

BTW I'm not sure if somebody has mentioned this already but HiFlo is now making an air filter for X500. I think the P/N was HFA5005. Shouldn't be too expensive and quality as usual top-notch!

Well, there is an anti-hijacking filter on this forum, so we are both safe.
