Title: clutch
Post by: jbird on October 20, 2015, 08:50:53 PM
I just bought an 09 Grand Vista with appx 13k miles on it.  It runs pretty good with exception to a slight prob with what appears to be the clutch.  I hear a small chattering coming from the left trans case and it doesn't seem to want to pick up and go very easily.  It is usually just after acceleration when it kind of boggs down a little and requires me to give it more gas.  I have rebuilt the carb and that didn't do it and with that chattering coming from the left trans / clutch area, #1  Could it be the clutch, belt or variator?  #2  Is there a less expensive clutch assembly other than the stock one?   Thanks All.....im new here.

Probably all you need is to sand off the clutch shoes to remove the glaze.

My first guess is the pilot jet needs to be cleaned and you need to check for vacuum leaks and stuff that might have gotten distributed either by you or the previous owner.  The centrifical clutch only operates off idle and locks up once you get up around 9 mph.  If the lack of power in the mid range was from the belt or clutch slipping the motor would rev up not bog down.  Bogging is usually from getting more air but not getting fuel mixed in with it - basically a lean condition/
