..waitin' on m' carb
..waitin' on m' carb
..keep tellin' myself that i'm waitin' on m' carb....
..no, it's just that it's shot up to 85-90 degrees the last cpl days, and my scoot's performance has dropped...
...plug looks rich....dang...i hope the larger carb eliminates these fluctuations...
....

On the coldest days my scoot runs just a tiny bit on the lean side, and the summer is just fine. My carb is twice the size of the stock one, and I have no real effect from temp. I think yours is right at the point of being functional, and the extra mm will bring it into more of a comfort zone

..i'm thinking that humidity must play a part in it too...the humidity here can vary greatly from day to day...

...message from scootertronics on 4/26..."ships in 2-3 days"...
...message today..."ships in 2-3 days"...

-
..ordered it on the 23rd...said 5-7 days to ship....

It's NOT as critical on a 4t because of the valves. For the piston anyway. On a 2t the sharp edge of the piston is spending 1/2 its time passing the port running hot exhaust gas over it. A sharp or squared edge will heat up quicker than a dull or round edge. The weak point in a 4t is the valve itself. Too lean and you will burn the radius or seat on the valve. This will only happen to the exhaust valve, because it is open to the hot gases. Back to the subject Since you opened the amount of air being drawn in the amount of fuel must be increased to keep things cool. Your idle mix screw should be able to compensate for this. If you find the screw has little to no effect on the idle then you should open the idle jet. Have you looked at the delorto tuning site? It explains the different idle circuts so you can adapt to your set up from there. here's the link http://www.flydiver.com/HTML/Delorto%20Carburetor%20Tuning%20Guide.html (http://www.flydiver.com/HTML/Delorto%20Carburetor%20Tuning%20Guide.html)
...i think this post was the defining moment....

slinger how did you put the washers behind the needle in the carb to raise it ? I have 3 small washers i didn`t tried them yet but it seems that the white plastic piece with the small spring wont fit under the 3 bumps with washer under.
can`t see how you put 3 in there O.o
-
..mikrron, i had to file down the head of the needle, and also sand off the bottom of the retaining clip...
..i also filed the washer down to .025"
..it takes time and trial and error..
..but honestly, i've gone back to the stock needle position...

...carb will be at scootertronics either today or monday...
...yee-haa!!!!
