Yeah. They jamed a screw driver into the ignition to turn it, and were unsuccesfull. I was able to work My key back into the hole, and even start it up, but the steering lock will not disengage. Is this supposed to happen as a security feature? I could really use, and would really appriciate a little advise on how to correct it. Thank You. :(

Sounds like they have damaged the mechanism. Might have to pull it apart and see what damage has been done.

OK, I got it. The whole thing had been spun. I forced it back counter clockwise 180 and it seems to work just fine. Thanks. I got lucky on this one. The cops got some good finger prints off it last night. I hope they catch the punks.

I would test ride it slowly around side streets for a little while just in case your steering locks up again while riding.

just in case your steering locks up
..damned good idea....

Mine was a theft recovery. I have had the lock apart. It's a big rod that slides into a hole on a cam/slotted setup. If you got it back to the correct position you should be fine. ithink a complete lockset is <$100

WHOA! Wait a minute! They checked for finger prints?? Where do you live...?
I'm glad your scoot is still safe, was probably your stupid opportunist. If it were a pro, i think the whole thing would have been gone.

I live in Delaware. It is tagged and insured as a motorcycle as per DE law. They took it off My property, making it a felony theft. Was definatly oportunist kids. The fingerprints looked like little kid size.
