Title: Better MPG's w/SHELL gas
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on June 09, 2016, 06:08:49 PM
Switched to SHELL primo (from BP) a couple weeks ago and getting 2mpg's better mileage.
Maybe the scoot is just getting broken in, or benefiting from warmer temps, or the newly retired Stig is more aerodynamic !!
I have been running it at higher speeds since no longer simply commuting in town.
Riding more at 55mph and 7200rpm's, indicated.

Faster too?

A little over 79 MPG with NGK Iridium plug and 14g Dr Pulley sliders.
RPM's would likely be closer to 8000 or above,  at speed with stock rollers.
(Dr P's lowered the Burgman's rpm's by @1100 at highway speeds)

Tom, I have a buddy who owns a high performance sports car mechanic shop and works on Porche's, Ferrari's etc that won't run anything but Shell. He's convinced it's better and worth the extra cost.

Good to hear that you are getting that Like up to cruising speed.  Mine trots around 50 mph on the streets most days. Gas mileage does suffer a bit when running higher than that, but it doesn't complain.

I'll give it a shot and see if it improves my ride.  Looks like Stig has finally achieved warp speed on the Like! Man, that is some gas!
