We now have 6450 miles on our 450i. So far we have had 3 oil leaks, the front tires have worn out twice, it runs erratically ,the ignition switch wore out, and the rear brake is noisy. Overall, it has been a pretty good machine. It has never left us stranded. We have now sold this machine and moved on to a Honda Pioneer. The rear brake system for the Honda is almost identical to the Kymco and makes noise. So, would I buy another one? Probably not, as everyone thinks they are Chinese junk and they are hard to sell...

CFMoto seems to be doing good and they are Chinese....

In my area, any machine with 6000 miles would be hard to sell, no matter whose name is on it. Resale value on toys really sucks so just plan on getting your money out of it while you have it and enjoy. In my area Honda machines with the electronic shift transmissions are really hard to sell unless you are willing to give them away due to their high repair cost value. But in reality any high mileage machine will be hard to sell.

Yeah any high mileage off road toy is going to be hard to sell. Shoot man I hope mine last that long. That's problems aren't nearly as bad as they could of been. Sounds like it proved itself.
For what it's worth I have tried to trade mine just to see what would happen. (I don't want to get rid of it and really have no intentions too) but no one will bat an eye at kymco on the market. No dealers that is. They say if it's not one of the "big 7", Honda Polaris Yamaha Suzuki Kawasaki etc they don't want anything to do with. What a crock. It's a shame because kymco really is just as good as anything else out there and in lots of ways better. Now I love mine. Next time around would I buy again? Probably but maybe not. I'd be willing to take my chances on a Polaris ranger or Honda pioneer. And for that matter might even go back to the atv world. But like I said I love my kymco UXV 450i! It's doing everything that I imaged it to do an need it to do.

what keeps me coming back to the 450i is the width, other than that, I'd spend the cake on a Bobcat Toolcat

I agree it's the perfect size. I would like the bed to be a little longer though. Another six inches wouldn't hurt anything. And Yea those bobcat toolcats are nice for sure

Have to agree with the others on here, I like the choice I made and for the most part it was the smaller size that helped make that choice. When I decided to get mine I knew it would probably be the only one I would ever buy due to my age, so I shopped very prudently and the Kymco came out on top. If I were using it every day hard like for a business then a bigger more heavy duty machine might be in order, but for what I use it for it suits me very well. Resale means nothing to me as I have no plans on selling it, however, as the name gets around and their reputation continues to improve their value will increase. Just in the year and a half that I have owned mine I can see the name recognition has improved significantly in the UTV arena in my area..

Don't get me wrong, the Kymco is a great little machine. I hate it when people say it is an "off-brand" because it isn't. Take a look at Arctic cat, built by Kymco. I asked the dealership why they didn't offer Kymco , they sell cf moto, and they said the main reason was the availability of parts. Sounds like a Kymco problem to me...
-
Does Arctic Cat have problems getting parts? How would other dealers know if they never sold Kymco units?
-
I'm kinda the opposite. I had a kymco 500. Bought it new in 2012. I kept it for about 2 years and thought I needed more power. I ended up buying a rzr 570. After riding it hard and putting many parts on it I'm back with the Kymco. I found that no matter the machine you are going to work on leaks bearings etc. Overall the Kymco is more comfortable and goes just as many places. I'm sure there will be things I like more about each machines but that's how it goes. I don't see reliability being a huge difference after having the Kymco and a big name machine.
-
Jasonrbritty I'm glad people like yourself can give the real world feedback like that between the brands. Kymco is every bit as good as anything else out there. There will always be those people who have to have Polaris or Honda etc on the side of their machine. For me I'm glad I went with my
Kymco.

strange, my local multibrand dealer (Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki/Polaris/Kymco) told me the wouldn't take on CF Moto because of poor manufacturer support and parts availability/consistency. FWIW, parts are available for my Kymco 450i just as quick as my Suzuki V-strom
-
We sell Kymco and have no issues getting parts. Dealers are pushing the Cf Motos more lately since they have better margins. I cannot wait until Kymco comes out with a sport sxs and really starts to gain some momentum in the industry.

Seems like some where on the forum I read where Kymco USA cannot have a dealer within a hundred miles of another? Don't know for sure on that but I'd say based on my local area and state that is probably true. That hurts the brand IMO. There aren't multiple Polaris Honda Kawasaki dealers within a 30 mile radius of me....so I can a issue with parts.

false info, I have 4 Kymco dealers within 25 miles and if I expand the radius to 100 miles, I have 10 dealers

Things have changed, just a year back plus, no new dealerships were being offered if another existing dealer was within a 100 mile radius, but their popularity is growing at such a rate that the radius is shrinking. Aslo be aware that some are not atv/utv dealers but scooters only. I also have 3 dealers for Kymco within 80 mile radius but only one sells atv/utv's the others are scooters only. This information is directly from "Kymco USA"..

Scooters aren't really big in my area, what the Kymco dealers near me sell a lot of, are the youth sized atv's, I don't even know if my local dealer where I got mine from has any Kymco utvs, as far as utv's, they sell mostly rangers and probably mules and pioneers tieing for second, with the uxv a distant last, still not accepted as a quality brand, and if you want cheap, you can go to Tractor Supply you can get a loaded Massimo for less, but Kymcos are good enuf for the kids, only because kids seem to grow out of em like shoes
