Was reminded once again yesterday of my #1 DIY-ing credo:
"don't mess it up....do NO harm wrenching"
Getting ready to do the first valve check on my Piaggio, and was exploring the removal of the floor panel. 6 easy screws removed and most of it popped loose. But stuck fast at the rear. Using a mirror, flashlight and a camera - I discovered at least two hidden screws under the floor - not accessible. Floor and adjoining pieces go in as a unit.
As I was prying with some panel tools I reminded myelf of "Rule #1" and stopped .....
Good thinking.
Hidden screws.

...used to be a motto of medical doctors.....
Still a worthy motto of patient mechanics.

My motto, regarding mechanics has always been, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it til it is." This does not apply to routine maintenance, of course.
