Just posting that my 2001 Kymco Cobra Cross turned over 10,000 miles tonight. 16,200 Kilometers.
17 years old. All of the parts are date stamped 2001.
This thing is built like a Mercedes. It just keeps going and going and going.
At 9,800 miles I got chicken and installed a Malossi 70cc BBK. Did not want to have things go boom just short of 10,000 miles.
The piston skirt had a modest amount of gas blowby on the exhaust port side, but other than that, things looked good.
Muffler is rusting badly and stuff falls out of it if you shake it. So, that will probably be my next remove and replace.
The body plastics have cracks and seem to be the only subpar part of the entire scooter.
So impressed.

Good for you, and your scooter!
No sure plastic bits would be flying off of a Mercedes at this age....but owning a 17 yr old scooter that still gets you around is pretty darn good.
$ per day of ownership has got to be on the very, very thrifty end of the scale!
Well done.

Happy birthday old scoot now it is just broken in, now you can let it rip., my scooter has 86,000 Km. on it and it runs better than new, I had to replace the electrical parts that's all, 6 sets of tires and changed lots of oil , over the years, will see if I can hit 100,000 Km. this year 62,000 miles ,.

Thank you all.
While I can still get most parts for this thing, I sure wish they still made plastics for it.
Right now, yellow duck tape and stickers mend and cover the cracks n scratches.
While I would prefer to have a nice new Super 8, I kind of want to drive this thing until something super expensive goes bad on it.
Funny on the gas milage before and after the 70cc BBK. Befor it got 59-61MPG, after the kit, 73-75MPG! Woot.
