hi, my 4th Kymco scooter an ‘07 S200 that runs well, but i found that if i did few sustained 50mph runs around the “big block†the scooter appears to act like its running out of gas, then dies. after a minute or so, occasional cranking, it starts up and runs normal . i’ve drilled a tiny hole in the gas cap to improve venting but no, to perhaps slight improvement (?)
the scooter sat outdoors in mild winters and hit summers for over a year, maybe 2.
before i got it .
around the small block a few times when i first got it, it did it once so tempted to think it’s a “running time†issue.
a confusing problem .
any suggestions on things to check or test ? the air filter is nice and clean. new battery. i use a battery tender.
Thanks in advance .

Oil level is good? Probably - this being your 4th Kymco....
Coolant level good?
Ignition issue when hot?
Carb need cleaning?
Hope someone jumps in here for you....
And Welcome! to the gang.

Id clean the carburetor and set it again. Change oil spark plug air and fuel filter.
If the fuel filter is filthy id clean the fuel tank as well and go over the fuel lines.
After that fresh gasoline.. and should be good to go.

Vacuum operated petcock is probably not opening all the way or there is so much rust/sediment in the bottom of the tank to slow down fuel flow.
I have no idea what you mean by "running time issue."

The sentence in its entirety:
" when i first got it, it did it once so I am tempted to think it’s a “running time†issue."
Meaning after a set period of time, coincidencidenaly the poor running began. Not by hard acceleration or higher speed running.
I am not aware of a fuel filter, as someone mentioned, is it a screen in the carb ?

No, it usually is a plastic inline thing, fuel hose from tank into one side and fuel hose to carb out the other side.
