Title: Windshield discolored and peeling
Post by: wbdvt on August 23, 2019, 03:31:10 PM
Just bought a 2012 DT 200i (not a 300i but couldn't find a 200i topic so figured these are similar) and the windshield is very discolored and peeling.  Is this common?

What part of the world has this 7 yr old scoot lived in?
Hot, sun is very hard on plastics.

Yes. I replaced the windshield on my DT300i twice in its lifetime.

It is from Maine, and only has 6k miles on it so it was stored for a number of years.  The person I bought it from owned it 2 years.  He bought it with 600 miles on it.  So the first 5 years only 600 miles and then about 5400 miles the last 2 years.  Not a lot of exposure to the elements.

I bought a 2011 Dt in 2018 that was carried on the back of an RV: the windscreen had a third degree sunburn.  Luckily new ones are available, easy to install and are reasonable, around $100 from Leeson's:  https://shop.leesonsarcticcat.com/oempartfinder.htm

The screen is made from poly-carbonate, UV deteriorates it.
It is normal.
