Title: Like 150 ABS Recall
Post by: LousyTech on November 20, 2020, 08:07:21 AM
Anyone experiencing issues with the Like 150i ABS recall?

Not receiving parts or can't fix the error after installing new ABS ring?

Customers returning after tech bulletin repair?

I am getting a lot of questions and feedback (9 messages now) that suggests a deeper issue at play here...

Any help, comments, feedback would be greatly warranted.

What are you seeing within the failed ABS magnetic rings?

Personally I believe this is an adhesive issue and not a lithium grease contamination issue.

Glad to hear from you! For those of us experiencing neither the recall nor the ABS problem, could you explain the significance of "adhesive issue" and "lithium grease issue."

I know a lot of these things take a lot of time but it seems like an issue with brakes would be pretty high priority.

Recall notice makes no mention of adhesive issue or grease contamination issue. Ring deterioration issue only.

It will all be "public information" soon. I am just honestly asking if anyone on here has had an issue with the recall repair. For me, the replacement rings are just as flimsy and defective straight out of the box as the one that's on the unit.

This is concerning and risky.

Ding ding! you are a winner!

How many of these rings have you inspected?

What is the difference between a deteriorated ring and a ring that has delaminated adhesive?

Is delamination a type of deterioration?

The root cause was never addressed here. Its not the lithium grease. The grease is only a contributing factor for the real root cause.

I had the ABS problem on my Like before Kymco knew what the issue was.  It was in the shop for 2 months.  There were no cables in the USA needed to plug in to the ECU for try to diagnose the problem.  The tech at Max Motorsports told me later that it was my scooter that got the ball rolling on the recall.

I also had problems with the wire going to the injector.  That was fixed fairly quickly once I brought it in.

I have had issues with the spark plug cap falling off.  I replaced the cap myself.

My belt broke at 10,007 miles.  The belt change interval is 12,000 miles.

Despite all these problems I still have a blast riding it and managed to put 10,400 miles on it in 23 months.  If not for all the time  it was broke I think I'd have around 12,000 miles on it now.

That first paragraph is the one most likely to send me into a rant about Kymco USA and their typical inability to stay ahead of any situation. Looks like Kymco designed and built a winner but the importer and/or the dealer(s) failed to see the importance of proper service.

The dealer (Max Motorsports) was great.  This was all on Kymco USA.  They were the ones who dropped the ball.

That is good to hear about a dealer! Seems like if the dealers were to band together that KUSA would have to listen....
