...reckon she wore out a bottom-end bearing..
..at least, that what it sounds like...
..funny thing is, she'll still run 45mph...
..one helluva frikin noise from down under tho...
(not you sid)
;D
............................54,410 kms..............................
-
Noooooo. Say it isn't so!
Oh, the humanity.
She has so much to live for...
-
..it's true...
-
So what will be your mode of transport for until the resurrection?
-
...good question.....
..currently searching all of nc's craigslist for a used kymco 50...
..found a 2009 people with SUPER LOW kms for 1500...it's "new"...
..not prepared to spend that much just yet tho...
-
Looking to stay with 4 stroke?
Or whatever you can get?
-
...pretty much whatever at this point,
..i'v a cpl decent 2t prospects, no kymcos tho...
..i'm scared of chinese gy6 scooters..unless they've been modded a bit....
-
sorry to hear about that. maybe you should stick a 125 in it.
-
Yeah, you want to make sure you get something that'll hold up for you.
I mean 54,000 km? How many scoots could pull that off!
-
...here's one...
2007 velocity diamo with 4500 kms...
..chinese yeah, but it's engine is based on the minerelli horiz....
..small pics...sorry...
-
4500km is like 2 weeks worth of riding for you.
That's still a baby.
...but it breaks my heart to see you go outside the Kymco family.
never go against the family!
-
..i know, but itsa 2t..............
-
..and itsa temp...
-
Yeah, we could forgive you a temporary fling I suppose...
We'll call it a midlife crisis!
-
...i call it a lil strange...
..reckon that's why i'm single.....
.. :-\
-
Careful, you might get hooked on the 2t.
-
Aww...mannn. I'm so sorry, wordslinger. That's rotten. We gotta find you something fast since that's how you get to work and all.
-
...yup...think she threw a bottom-end bearing...
..i've been hearing a increasingly louder rattle, for the last cpl days...
..i eliminated variator noise by removing the moving drive face and all the variator bits except the boss...
..placed a thin washer on the shaft, then the drive face...and fired it up...
..still rattling...
..remved the fan shroud and checked out all those components...
..everything fine...
..removed the valve cover and thoroughly inspected the top end...
..nice and tight...
..it's one helluva noise....
-
skipping right over that last comment...
I have faith in you Word - you will fix the scoot.
Kymco will throw you a big party when it hits 100,000 km
-
wait a minute here word....what have i missed, wheres the ppl???????... like i said in the other thread, the 6 million $ man!... ;) ..............
-
your the best on this fourm sorry about the last comment. x 2 on the 6 million dollar man.
you well get it fixed have faith.
-
Fixing it is only a matter of having time and $$, but you need to be able to get to work to earn those dollars. I hate that these things never happen at convenient times. And I thought I had a rough couple of days....
So sorry, wordslinger.
-
I'm considering selling my a50 soon.
Want to buy it? Already has a malossi in it and a 72cc kit by Monday :)
Bummer is I'm in San Antonio .
It's an '07 with just over 5000km on it.
-
Sad to hear that slinger, time to revive the ppl. I don't need to tell you don't ride it until you get it sorted, don't want to kill it. If you want to pull it apart and replace bearings or piston you will enjoy it, mhpnd was only a 2t, but was a fun job. If you are concerned about chinese scoots, check out scootdawg.com, there are some there that are happy with them, mostly about how you treat them. They are not a Kymco, but will get you through. Again, sorry to hear it, all the best. We await the return of the Guilty.
-
Damn sorry to hear,Got a good run out of it though! The volocity is a hit and miss on quality. Probly cheaper to build the people, but takes time and money. You'll figure something out ;)
-
..i just confirmed that i'm picking up a "new" 2008 People S 50 2t tomorrow!!!
..gotta travel 4 hours to get to it...only has 1700 miles on the odometer...
;D :D ;D :D ;D
-
Got a good run out of it though!
..yeah, you got that right!!!
..i can't complain at all........
-
That's great news, wordslinger!!! I hope your people s50 will ride as long and as well as your a50. And who knows, after giving your baby a rest and some TLC she may decide to entertain you for a few more km. :)
I'm real happy to know that you will only have a day or two of downtime without a scoot since you have that 34 mile round trip for work. ;D
Have a safe trip tomorrow!
-
..thanx rianna, and yeah...the a50 is still running, it will actually still run 45mph...so i'm sure she'll be on the road again...
-
I thought all the "S" models of the people were 4t?
-
my agilty did the same thing got up to speed just fine and road great.but when I took it in for repair
it was the main crank was bend warrenty coverd most of it but out pocket was about 300 maybe thats whats wrong with yours you do have a lot of miles on it.they told me that you realy have to keep the oil up on these scoots when they get hot the crank well bend and wear out faster. mmm not to sure about that. but yet it sounds right.
-
The transformation is complete.
-
Congratulations on the pending new arrival.
I wonder what an appropriate scooter warming gift is?
-
Careful, he might suggest a Malossi 72cc cylinder kit.:)
-
Maybe I should have placed more emphasis on the appropriate part!
-
;D
dang, you can have borrowed my S , it will just sit and get dusty anyway for the next few months!
And I would have had a heck of a good time driving it down to ya!!
-
..well, i'm heading to Charlottesville...and it's raining...dang...
..i'm not modding thisscoot until i have BOTH my others back up and running...lol..
-
The transformation is complete.
..lol..i reckon you're right!!
;D
-
Well, all the best with it wordslinger, you are a people person after all.:)
"Going Charlottesville and it's raing", I can feel for you there, we are going to Adelaide tomorrow with the dogs in the back of the ute and the camper trailer and it started raing this afternoon, supposed to rain all weekend in Adelaide as well. Oh well, the things we do for amusement.
-
Hey, you might not have to raise the back end on this one since it's got the taller tires. :D
The ride in the rain is worth it to have ya some wheels. Just be careful on those curvy mountains up there. Have a safe trip, wordslinger. Looking forward to pics of your new ride.
-
:o I like the tires ;) Got to derestrict at least. Can't wait to hear whats in that one
-
I'll be interested to hear how much difference the windshield makes for winter riding.
On some of those very cold days I've thought about putting on a windshield to dry and deflect some of that cold air.
-
..well, as it turned out, itsa 2007 people 50...not an S..and though, the S would have been frikin awesome!!..i'm kinda glad it's like my 2001...it only has 2014 kms....
..has some plastic damage ie: the lower left footboard panel is missing, (the one that hides the side kick mechanism) as well as the back half of the front wheel's splash guard, and the spark plug access cover is also not there......it's been shoddily painted black, was blue originally...has no mirrors, but imma put the ones from mt 2001 on it...tires are in great shape with no cracks and new-looking cheng-shin tread...can locate no leaks in any of the fliud conduits...
..haven't inspected the cvt yet, and i ain't gonna delve into that tonight...
..rode it back home from my workplace, as that's where i met up with my ride to charlottesville this morning...
..fires up with a touch of the starter button, and kick-starts by hand!!...initial take-off was slow to respond, at first, but that smoothed out after a few miles..scoots been in storage for a year...
..carries my 220 lb ass uphills at 45 mph indicated, and the one time i let it wind out full-throttle downhill, it hit 80 kmh before i let off the throttle..(just hadda see if it would)
..all this with a stock, and apparently de-restricted setup...
..it was worth the $500.00 and the 400 mile round trip....
..Thanx to rianna for helping me locate!!!
;)
-
Good to be back in the saddle I bet!
Sounds like she needs a bit of love, but I'll bet you'll have some led lights on it within a few weeks!
-
...yeah...i love her already.......
..and yeah..imma not be without at least 2 scoots running in a very short while...
..think i got a good deal tho...she runs sweeeet...
8)
quiet, smooth and quickly!!!
-
Sounds like a good deal indeed.
Clearly you're a polygamous scooter owner - one's not enough....
-
Oh, man, congrats, Wslinger! Hee hee, transformation eh.
-
bet you'll have some led lights on it within a few weeks!
..probably...
..if for no other reason than that itsa black scooter...
..i ride in the dark, much more than during the daylight hours..
...i like being illuminated...
;D
-
Oh, man, congrats, Wslinger! Hee hee, transformation eh
..thanx hoolander2!!!!
:D
..yeah, but now im torn between..should i fix my other ppl or the guilty...
..i think the a50 is gonna win out tho...
..we go waaay back...
-
I hear that.
Mostly I've gone with reflective tape.
But led lights are tempting - my neighbor has a sport bike and just put over 200 led lights on it - and HID headlights. You can see him very clearly at night from quite a distance!
-
Clearly you're a polygamous scooter owner - one's not enough....
..lol..yeah, i now have 3 KYMCOS and a junker marshin....
..i'm about 73 behind art....
;D
-
over 200 led lights on it - and HID headlights
...wowwwww...i'm green with envy...........
-
And green is the color of the led lights as a matter of fact...But the HID really makes the difference.
He has these cool led turn signals in the front- they glow green until they are activated and then flash amber.
-
..i got LEDs in my rear flashers that burn red them amber...
..but you mean they alternate between green and amber...
..yeah, that'd be coooll...
-
So you'll have to find out if they make those Viper Strykes in a size that fits the new scoot.
-
..haven't checked yet, but i think they got'm...
-
It's like moving into a new house...you develop a huge list of things you want/need to do and have to prioritize them.
-
...yes it is...
;)
..but i just gotta throw this out there...
..all you guys that are riding the a50...as i have been fo many miles...if you ever get a chance to obtain a people...
..go ahead and do it....
-
I've always wanted to ride the Super 8 - just because I like the look of it.
But I would certainly be open to a People as well - especially if it runs better in the cold than the agility.
-
..it was @57 on the way home...
..never ridden a ppl in the cccold...
..but art's in the far northwest....
-
You can be our test pilot for the cold weather applications of the People 50.
So you planning to move to a bigger place so you an fit all your scoots inside the house?
-
..have two in the dining room and one in the living room...
..and the junker out back!!
???
....dang...my neck so red....
;)
-
Well, there's still room in the kitchen, and I guess you could squeeze one into the guest bedroom....
-
..i do want me a S9.....
..that chest of drawers gotta go!!
;D
-
Who needs drawers - cloths will hang nicely from the handlebars and there's plenty of underseat storage room for other stuff.
You can use the wood from the chest to make a ramp up to the second level of the house...
-
Congrats, wordslinger!
Got pics yet? lol
-
...no, not yet...not till i at least wash it...lol..
;)
-
..nearly there...
-
..beautiful country...
-
...fog and clouds...
-
Thank you for posting those pics, wordslinger. You bringing back some good memories from when I used to drive that big truck. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. :)
-
..you're welcome...
..i was navigating this trip, aannnd... on the way back i was taking this pic of a big loop we just took....my dad took a wrong turn, and we wound up on 460 east...heading toward farmville...for about 35 minutes before i realized that i wasn't recognizing..ANYTHING from the drive up!!!
...3.5 hours up...over 5 hours back...
..very long day...
-
Farmville is ALL country. You could get lost in some of those backwoods...
Dang...you just made me think about that Deliverance movie.
You made Good time on the way, though.
-
...yup...460 East...
-
You made Good time on the way, though.
...it was a straight shot!!...1/4 mile off 29...BOOM we were there...
-
Wow. You really lucked out! I figured you would have to drive all over Charlottesville to find it.
-
..i was taking this pic when we lost our way...
-
Dang...that looks like the bridge where I had my accident.
-
...itsa big loop, then you gotta merge..near lynchburg...
...well, we looped, but we didnt merge...
-
I think I know where you mean. My accident was heading towards the loop in the other direction - leaving Lynchburg. I only worked about a year after that. Surprised I made it that long. Got rear ended then the folks two cars back hit the van behind me and I got hit again. Ended up sideways looking down over that cement wall. It looked like a really long drop. :o
-
...wwowww..dang...yeah, that is a VERY long drop...
..either one of those bridges and barriers are at least 60 feet..some over 100, id bet....
-
Yeah. And you never think about that when you drive across them every day. I was like frozen in shock staring down. I still cringe when I see a car or truck hanging over the edge in movies. :D
-
All most looks like are michignan fall colors.
-
Only place I remember spending much time at in Michigan was on that gambling boat. Can't remember the name of it now. Just remember the nickel slots. LOL
-
hi again and sorry slinger .. are you sure you checked the exhaust bolts near the cooling fan ? cause i had mine vibrating and rattle just as a broken bearing. check the stand bolts too.
but if you can hear it koncking at idle.. i suggest buying a cranck for bigbores (yes they exist) and a big bore kit of course :)
also i must say enjoy the new kymco people :)
this summer i bought a 2t too.. don`t worry the agility didn`t go.
i bought a piaggio zip 2 in very bad shape, fork bent, all the plastics cracked, the engine totaled..i was able to shake the crank axle inside :))
but now it`s running great, almoust new engine, repaired the craks with the soldering iron, painted etc
huge difference with 2t istn`t it :D
-
..thanx for the sentiments mikrron..
;)
..my a50 served me well...now to the next level!!!
huge difference with 2t istn`t it
..hell yeah!!...lol..
..and i reckon imma go with a 72cc kit and a new head wen i tear into the guilty...
..id not be satisfied with less after riding the people...
:-\
-
I figured that 2T would be addictive!
-
..wow...you need you one os.....
-
And because of you I'm thinking about it too!
My wife won't be happy about that - and I'm giving her your name!
-
My wife won't be happy about that - and I'm giving her your name!
...that's okay...caus i'm like..wwaaay over here.... ;D
-
...the ppl is just another whole breed of scoot..
..only on the longest steepest hills will it slow down to the level of an a50...
..and lots of times, it'll "shift" and begin to accelerate even after encountering a good incline...
..they're just frikin awesome...
-
..i usually rode my agility in a "sport-bike" posture..leaned fully forward, with my left arm across the instruments..feet on the passenger footrests..to reduce wind drag...
..it really makes a difference....
..especially up-hill, but even on the flats when the wind wasn't in my favor...
..i can sit up and be somebody on the ppl !!!...
-
You'll be able to outrun her since she'll be on my 4T!
-
Hmmmmm.
Just found a S8 50 2T for sale not too far from me....
Brand new though - so expensive.
-
...honestly...you should look for one between 2001 and 2004...
..they are waay less restricted OEM...
..the speedometer on my 01 goes up to 90kmh...
..the 07 only goes to 80...
-
Yep, I would definitely be looking used - but they are hard to find at this point.
But not hurry - I have no idea where I'd put it. There's a no scoots in the house policy around here
-
Yikes...I'd be in trouble then. lol
-
..now those S8 2ts are pretty quick too...
..may be the best value 50 scoot overall...
..i believe art confirmed that the ppl and the S9 ac share the same engine...
-
Wow...I thought Kymco's were scarce here. There are only 2 listed near you, oswaldters.
-
You know, I have a friend who is talking about getting a scoot to commute to the Metro station like I do.
He's also thinking that he needs to start with something easy to handle - which is the same thinking I had when I purchased the agility 2 years ago.
Soooo - maybe I should see if I can sell him my agility and take a step up?
-
There's a no scoots in the house policy around here
..well, hell...it's time to MOVE!!...
:D
-
Soooo - maybe I should see if I can sell him my agility and take a step up?
.you read my mind...
;)
-
This just isn't a big scooting area. Don't know why.
This is probably also why I can't find a dealer or service center anywhere near me.
-
Ha! turning you into a 2t guy :o Thats the way I felt jumping on a people after riding a vino 125 for awhile.
I think the s9 has a different air intake and reeds. I got one on the shelf havn't got around to putting it on yet!
Been busy with anything but scoots lately. I'll be back at it soon though.
You put the 2001 pipe on it yet :D
-
You put the 2001 pipe on it yet
..no, not yet...been too damned busy to do much more than give it a good inspection...
