Yeah, you want to make sure you get something that'll hold up for you.

I mean 54,000 km?  How many scoots could pull that off!

4500km is like 2 weeks worth of riding for you.

That's still a baby.

...but it breaks my heart to see you go outside the Kymco family.

never go against the family!

...yup...think she threw a bottom-end bearing...

..i've been hearing a increasingly louder rattle, for the last cpl days...

..i eliminated variator noise by removing the moving drive face and all the variator bits except the boss...

..placed a thin washer on the shaft, then the drive face...and fired it up...

..still rattling...

..remved the fan shroud and checked out all those components...

..everything fine...

..removed the valve cover and thoroughly inspected the top end...

..nice and tight...

..it's one helluva noise....

Fixing it is only a matter of having time and $$, but you need to be able to get to work to earn those dollars. I hate that these things never happen at convenient times. And I thought I had a rough couple of days....

So sorry, wordslinger.

I'm considering selling my a50 soon.

Want to buy it? Already has a malossi in it and a 72cc kit by Monday :)

Bummer is I'm in San Antonio .

It's an '07 with just over 5000km on it.

Sad to hear that slinger, time to revive the ppl. I don't need to tell you don't ride it until you get it sorted, don't want to kill it. If you want to pull it apart and replace bearings or piston you will enjoy it, mhpnd was only a 2t, but was a fun job. If you are concerned about chinese scoots, check out scootdawg.com, there are some there that are happy with them, mostly about how you treat them. They are not a Kymco, but will get you through. Again, sorry to hear it, all the best. We await the return of the Guilty.

That's great news, wordslinger!!! I hope your people s50 will ride as long and as well as your a50. And who knows, after giving your baby a rest and some TLC she may decide to entertain you for a few more km.  :)

I'm real happy to know that you will only have a day or two of downtime without a scoot since you have that 34 mile round trip for work. ;D

Have a safe trip tomorrow!

my agilty did the same thing got up to speed just fine and road great.but when I took it in for repair
it was the main crank was bend warrenty coverd most of it but out pocket was about 300 maybe thats whats wrong with yours you do have a lot of miles on it.they told me that you realy have to keep the oil up on these scoots when they get hot the crank well bend and wear out faster. mmm not to sure about that. but yet it sounds right.

"Going Charlottesville and it's raing", I can feel for you there, we are going to Adelaide tomorrow with the dogs in the back of the ute and the camper trailer and it started raing this afternoon, supposed to rain all weekend in Adelaide as well. Oh well, the things we do for amusement.

Hey, you might not have to raise the back end on this one since it's got the taller tires.  :D

The ride in the rain is worth it to have ya some wheels. Just be careful on those curvy mountains up there. Have a safe trip, wordslinger. Looking forward to pics of your new ride.

I'll be interested to hear how much difference the windshield makes for winter riding.

On some of those very cold days I've thought about putting on a windshield to dry and deflect some of that cold air.

Post by: wordslinger on October 15, 2010, 01:13:20 AM
..well, as it turned out, itsa 2007 people 50...not an S..and though, the S would have been frikin awesome!!..i'm kinda glad it's like my 2001...it only has 2014 kms....

..has some plastic damage ie: the lower left footboard panel is missing, (the one that hides the side kick mechanism) as well as the back half of the front wheel's splash guard, and the spark plug access cover is also not there......it's been shoddily painted black, was blue originally...has no mirrors, but imma put the ones from mt 2001 on it...tires are in great shape with no cracks and new-looking cheng-shin tread...can locate no leaks in any of the fliud conduits...
..haven't inspected the cvt yet, and i ain't gonna delve into that tonight...
..rode it back home from my workplace, as that's where i met up with my ride to charlottesville this morning...
..fires up with a touch of the starter button, and kick-starts by hand!!...initial take-off was slow to respond, at first, but that smoothed out after a few miles..scoots been in storage for a year...
..carries my 220 lb ass uphills at 45 mph indicated, and the one time i let it wind out full-throttle downhill, it hit 80 kmh before i let off the throttle..(just hadda see if it would)

..all this with a stock, and apparently de-restricted setup...

..it was worth the $500.00 and the 400 mile round trip....

..Thanx to rianna for helping me locate!!!

 ;)

I hear that.

Mostly I've gone with reflective tape.

But led lights are tempting - my neighbor has a sport bike and just put over 200 led lights on it - and HID headlights.  You can see him very clearly at night from quite a distance!

And green is the color of the led lights as a matter of fact...But the HID really makes the difference.

He has these cool led turn signals in the front- they glow green until they are activated and then flash amber.

But I would certainly be open to a People as well - especially if it runs better in the cold than the agility.

Who needs drawers - cloths will hang nicely from the handlebars and there's plenty of underseat storage room for other stuff.

You can use the wood from the chest to make a ramp up to the second level of the house...

I think I know where you mean. My accident was heading towards the loop in the other direction - leaving Lynchburg. I only worked about a year after that. Surprised I made it that long. Got rear ended then the folks two cars back hit the van behind me and I got hit again. Ended up sideways looking down over that cement wall. It looked like a really long drop.  :o

hi again and sorry slinger .. are you sure you checked the exhaust bolts near the cooling fan ? cause i had mine vibrating and rattle just as a broken bearing. check the stand bolts too.
but if you can hear it koncking at idle.. i suggest buying a cranck for bigbores (yes they exist) and a big bore kit of course :)

also i must say enjoy the new kymco people :)

this summer i bought a 2t too.. don`t worry the agility didn`t go.
i bought a piaggio zip 2 in very bad shape, fork bent, all the plastics cracked, the engine totaled..i was able to shake the crank axle inside :))
but now it`s running great, almoust new engine, repaired the craks with the soldering iron, painted etc

huge difference with 2t istn`t it :D

My wife won't be happy about that - and I'm giving her your name!

...the ppl is just another whole breed of scoot..

..only on the longest steepest hills will it slow down to the level of an a50...

..and lots of times, it'll "shift" and begin to accelerate even after encountering a good incline...

..they're just frikin awesome...

..i usually rode my agility in a "sport-bike" posture..leaned fully forward, with my left arm across the instruments..feet on the passenger footrests..to reduce wind drag...

..it really makes a difference....

..especially up-hill, but even on the flats when the wind wasn't in my favor...

..i can sit up and be somebody on the ppl !!!...

...honestly...you should look for one between 2001 and 2004...

..they are waay less restricted OEM...

..the speedometer on my 01 goes up to 90kmh...

..the 07 only goes to 80...

Yep, I would definitely be looking used - but they are hard to find at this point.

But not hurry - I have no idea where I'd put it.  There's a no scoots in the house policy around here

..now those S8 2ts are pretty quick too...

..may be the best value 50 scoot overall...

..i believe art confirmed that the ppl and the S9 ac share the same engine...

You know, I have a friend who is talking about getting a scoot to commute to the Metro station like I do.

He's also thinking that he needs to start with something easy to handle - which is the same thinking I had when I purchased the agility 2 years ago.

Soooo - maybe I should see if I can sell him my agility and take a step up?

This just isn't a big scooting area.  Don't know why.

This is probably also why I can't find a dealer or service center anywhere near me.

Ha! turning you into a 2t guy  :o Thats the way I felt jumping on a people after riding a vino 125 for awhile.
I think the s9 has a different air intake and reeds. I got one on the shelf havn't got around to putting it on yet!
Been busy with anything but scoots lately. I'll be back at it soon though.
You put the 2001 pipe on it yet  :D
