Dear fellow addicts,
I did it again, brought her home and gave her a treat.
Like I said, I found her in Venice (Italy) my second LIKE 200i but that time an LX (pls see pics)
data: - MY 2013
- 44.000 km
- one owner
- had oil all over the lower motor and gear part.
Had to do a little bit of refurbishing, muffler etc.,
ordering new chrome side panels, GIVI windscreen, drive belt and (Dr.P 14gr that time) CVT rollers.
Bearings and oils seals are standart and available at my close Parker-Shop.
At home it came out that, the rear axle wheel bearing had axial play, and caused demage at gears oil-seal.
Upon removing muffler, wheel etc. I found the gear exit bearing faulty, caused by this demaged axle bearing. Ok, changed all of it and the underbody oil leaking was cured.
Now, after opening the CVT housing, black rubber dust merged happily with oil coming from both oilseals (crankshaft and gear). I was really surprised how it still worked this 150 km on my way home.
New oil seals, Dr.Ps, new drivebelt, clutch de-greased and looks like new.

I guess I was under the impression that most LIKEs sold in Europe (& S. America) were 125's?....maybe Italy received the 200i?
Also, yes, the blue and white LX had black and white top cases in Europe, while the case on the LX was a matching blue on the 200i and 50's in the USA.
It would be asking alot - but photos of your DIY bearing snd seals procedures would be popular additions to the forum, I think!

thank for the info about topcase colors, here you see a wide variety of different mix at LIKEs.
And yes, there are a lot of LIKE 200i around here in Italy, particularely in southerly regions, since most used 200th come from ROMA or even more south.
Now to pics from oil seal and bearing surgery.

gear oil and pics, ...
Anyway:
bearings are standard int. numbered and oil seals are in millimeter, inner diam./outer diam./hight
A) crank shaft seal 19.8-30-6 (behind this shim)
could not get a 19.8, so I took a 20mm inner diam.
B) oil seal between gear and clutch 20-32-6 mm
C) motorside gear with this 20-32-6 and 6204 bearing
D) gearbell with 27-42-7 oilseal and 6004 LU bearing
E) gearbell with new 6004 LU bearing in it
F) airfilter "brandnew"
G) separating gearbell
Taking out an oilseal is simply done by taking a spiky tool and a hammer, drive with some common sense this tool trough the seal without harming the outer or inner surface, pry it out.
Renewing ball bearings works like always, when cast aluminium and steel bonds:
Heat up the alu part by heat gun, set a puller and voilĂ ..
Setting the bearing , reverse, heat up the alu, put the bearing in the frezzer for awhile and drop it into those sizzling hot seat.
And btw, (pls see pic, this was the LXs airfilter) never ever believe if somebody tells you an vehicle was regularely maintained by dealership, has a new MOT and all filters and oils were changed recently.

@Ruffus, you are the Like 200i restoring man! I love it! Does that make 3 Like's? Or 4? Do you plan to keep and ride all of them?
I love the pictures. You obviously have the time and skill to pull these apart and work on them. I notice you have a scooter lift. Is that a purchased lift or a home made one?

Let's see whether I keep them all. Right now, yes.
This lift is homemade by me some years ago, then left aside until now. Came in handy.
As you say, its fun to play around with our LIKEs.

That is the prize winning dirty air filter......never seen anything close to that in a LIKE200i!
As for seal pulling....I like this little tool.
