Title: Is this bolt for the oil also?
Post by: conan222 on May 30, 2021, 09:07:31 AM
Hi,

Can you please tell me what this bolt is for as it appears to be linked to the main oil sump but the oil drain plug / bolt is underneath on the other side of the bike?.

Thanks for any help.

Andrew

That is the drain for oil. The big cap on the other side is the strainer for oil.

No it is not for the oil also.  The oil drain plug is under the bike with the strainer attached.

That's okay. Whichever works best for you. That way you get the screen and the oil together. See, no prob, Bob!

....until that pot-metal strainer cap's hex head strips and rounds off, from over tightening!
Have seen lots of scooter posts after this happens!!
The actual oil drain plug (usually on the SIDE of the case) is made from much better metal....never heard of the head of these stripping.

On my Sento, they're both 17mm

My bad. The oil filter cap on the DT300i is 23 mm and is considerably larger than the strainer cap.
