Let`s share this information to see how much they are skinning us to finance the governments and corporations.
Agility: yearly mandatory insurance 30 EUR; tax, registration, inspection 50 EUR
People: yearly mandatory insurance 50 EUR; tax, registration, inspection 70 EUR
(car) Kia Proceed 1400 cc (109 hp): 882 EUR/year http://www.kia-forums.com/315888-post62.html (http://www.kia-forums.com/315888-post62.html)
Driving record: immaculate; zero damages in the past 17 years
p.s. It would be nice to say also in which country you are.
-
Zero dollars a year. My People 50 2t is considered a moped by law and therefore needs no registration or insurance to operate it. ;D
-
tabs here $24
insurance $125/year
insurance covers: fully
-
Germany:
(Liablility insurance can be calculated only, i.e. with huk24.de.)
"Kleinkraftrad" (moped, no tax/registration/inspection).
50cc scooter constant 50-75 € / year depending on drivers age (older = cheaper).
"Leichtkraftrad" (125cc 11kW small motorcycle, no tax, registration for 50 € is valid until owner or district change, inspection for 50 € is valid 2 years)
scooter >80km/h between 20 and 80 € depending on the driver (proven accident free, experience).
scooter <=80kph 3-4x more expensive, because 16year old may drive them.
motorcycles 1.5-2x more expensive than scooters.
"Kraftrad" (motorcycle, 1.84 € tax for every 25cc displacement, i.e. 37 € for 500cc; registration/inspection same as Leichtkraftrad)
In addition to Leichtkraftrad the insurance depends on engine power. Disproportional rising premium if >= 100 hp.
500cc scoot 40-120 €.

Wow! I call this beureaucracy! But it is fair, and shows attention to details.

same here but it does need to be registered we dont have to have insurance . but if you take out a loan to buy it the bank says yes you do. I payed 260 a year and that gave me 5.000 for me if I got hurt.
-
..don't pay..not required...
;)
-
Nothing required in Maryland - but I do have full insurance since it is cheap anyway.
And the insurance company said they only offer full coverage on a small number of scooter model - Kymco's Agility being among them.
-
500 cc
260 dollars a year for insurance
and I think maybe 45 or 60 for registration.... but don't remember
-
zero dollars not a problem in md
-
In Maryland you pay sales tax on the purchase of a vehicle when you register it.
Can't register a 50 cc scoot in Maryland so don't pay sales tax on it either.
Works for me!
-
49cc scooter in texas...
clean record...
minimum level of insurance is $100 per year.
-
ive paid nothing for my scoot got it free no insurance no regitration nothing i dont even pay for the oil changes
just my labor which has been alot on this thing
-
In Maryland you pay sales tax on the purchase of a vehicle when you register it.
VAT is 23 % here for every good or service purchased.
We had sales tax 15 years ago, but throughout Europe sales tax is replaced in the past 10-20 years with VAT.
-
VAT is value added tax I assume? Wow, 23% on every thing? Rush Limbaugh is RIGHT!!!

Yes, there are no exemptions in EU.
There may be lower tax for some things like books or basic groceries, but it cannot be lower than 10 %.
In Croatia, we have 10 % on books and tourist services, I think.
-

It can! 19%/7% in Germany.
EU lower limits are 15%/5%, no upper limit (but in practice 25%).

You are right.
At this moment, there is no VAT here on some items like bread, milk and medicines, but it will have to be introduced once (and if) we enter EU.
-
In Pennsylavania, USA:
Insurance: $95 for liability, uninsured motorist, comprehensive.
Registration: $18
Inspection: $17
Tax: 6 % sales tax on all but food, clothing & medicine.
-
Axy, VAT of 23% sounds really high, what are your Income taxes like? Are you in Great Britain?
ppl 50-no insurance, inspection. $45 for 3 year moped registration/new owner transfer. (Michigan)

I am proud to live in the country that has the highest taxes in the world.

Income taxes: 12 % on the first approx 500 EUR of monthly income; 25 % on the next approx 1000 EUR of monthly income, 40 % on everything above.
Then, 2 or 4 % special tax on remaining net income.
Sounds incredible? It is incredible!!!
p.s. AND 20 % mandatory pension fund (only 5 % is for your future pension), AND 15 % mandatory health service contribution.
Sounds even more incredible? :) :( :( ???
-
In the UK I pay £15 a year Road Tax and £73 for fully comp insurance, don't matter what happens to the bike, I'm covered lol!
Hardly
-
Axy, all I can say is WOW! sorry to hear about that pension racket in particular. Hopefully your health contribution gets you some decent services. I understand some EU countries have excellent H.C, and some do not..
Hardly- That sounds like a pretty good rate for comprehensive insurance.
-
..i luv nc.....
::)
-
word, I love NC too! except that H-hole called Gatlinburg LOL! Ever been to Lake Lure? I spent some summer vacations there as a kid, most beautiful lake I've seen anywhere in America...
-
..gatlinburg is in tennessee...i do believe...
..never been to lake lure tho....
-
Hey Tomheet, the low insurance is 'coz I'm an old **** , they must reckon I'm more sensible and will not drive fast, let 'em keep believing that ;) LOL
Hardly

Get into an accident with a BMW, Mercedes, etc at your fault and tell me how your opinion is or even more hit a pedestrian.
-
For those that dont have insurance is ignorant. Its a motorized vehicle. There are children playing that can run out, accidents that happen, etc. Insurance is so cheap for these small cc engines. Is it really worth it? Hit a pedestrian = automatically thousands of dollars in medical and even more so long term lawsuits. Its a gamble
-
There is something to the argument about having insurance coverage.
For the $95 a year I go with the full coverage from Progressive.
Everyone sues around here for everything.

..it's the american way......

Yeah, I saw an accident the other day and think I'm suffering from phantom whiplash...
-
...that could happen...you coulda been so surprised by the whole scene that you jerked back in a reflex motion that caused a strain in your neck!!!...
..anybody know a good, ummm..sleazy attorney???
-
...phantom whiplash and post traumataic stress too...
-
..yeah, i think you havre a case os....
-
I may have to file - but after I see how my earlier lawsuit for bystander trauma goes...
-
OH yes, transferred pain and anguish...
-
bystander trauma
..there it is.....
-
Can't afford to be a *good samaritan* in this day and age!!
-
I pay 550 for two motorcycles and a scooter. I have full coverage on the scooter, but only liability on the two motorcycles.
-
Lankeeyankee makes an excellent point. This is worth checking into.
word- I must be getting old. I KNEW it was in Tenn, but brain farted, and placed it in N.C.
-
Liability insurance is a matter of course for Europeans. It's just mandatory for every motor vehicle and in some countries even for bicycles.
We don't need deterrently multi-billion-dollar-lawsuits after an accident, the police just makes a record and calls the wrecking truck for your vehicle.
-
I pay about $245 for full coverage, including full replacement should anything happen to my scooter. It's one of the things I like about scooters over bigger motorcycles. My Yager cost about $4,100. My insurance company considers that cheap, so there would be no problem in replacing it, while a more expensive bike would result in a fight for replacement worth value.
Go Scooters!
-WOlf
-
I payed an 18% of I.V.A. =V.A.T. when I bought the scooter
I have to pay yearly 9 Euros of Tax and 110 Euros of insurance, with 50 million Euros of liability, with no limit of legal expenses , attorneys, etc, with no limit on medical expenses during 1 year from the accident date.
Vehicle moving if damaged or it doesn't work properly
So, an indemnification of 15000 euros if you die or result fully invalid at an accident.
This is in this way in Spain. (if I don't know something wrong)
-
A Fly 150 in S.F. Bay Area, (CA) just paid $95 for my '07 Fly Registration. $59 for reg then a $22 License fee?? $14 County District Fee.
Minimum insurance coverage (liability) is about $200.
Wow I thought California had some real pirate taxes but I guess were running 2nd to Croatia. At least for now.
Funny thing is My '84 Carrera Insurance is about the same price. /boggle
One of the coolest cars you could think of driving.. and I loathe driving it.
Its just too liberating and easy and quick to hop on the scooter!
-
Holly cow, the Oregon DMV sucks!
In US dollars, for a 2008 Agility 50 moped that was a gift to my 16 year old son. $7 VIN inspection fee + $77 title transfer fee + $48 registration for two years + $12 new plate fee.
After that it is only $48 every two years.
To add the moped to our existing car insurance policy is only an extra $85 per year. That is the good news. The bad new is that adding our son DOUBLES the cost of our existing policy!
First time ever a "gift" cost me $600 out of pocket!
-
I did not read the whole thread so if this is doubling someone sorry. Florida is $45 every 6 months (under 50cc), and Insc. is NOT mandatory. Historically scoots under 50cc's must not last more than 6 months here.?.
-
Agility 50, £18/yr madatory road tax, £27/yr mandatory test/check, £90/yr insurance.
-
Just wrote my $144 check to the DMV for title transfer and new plates. Now it is only $48 every two years for new tabs.
My son is going to get a Moped-Restricted Driver License that allows operation of only mopeds. He has to pass the Moped knowledge test and a Moped skills test on a closed course. He is going to keep his car learners permit so he can drive with a parent, but we won't have to add him as a vehicle driver on our insurance.
-
So I'm going to jump in here and tell you all how much I pay to insure the two scoots I have.
Insurance companies tell me I have what is called "activity" on my licnese. That's a kind word for accidents, tickets and such. The last "activity" was in 2007. With that said...
Scoots: 1. Sym RV250 / full coverage / model year 2010. $92.18 a month.
2. Kymco Xciting 500ri ABS / full coverage / model year 2012. $103 a month.
You all must have perfect driving records. I'm told most of what's on mine will drop within the next year but wow........ I understand to just have liabillity would decrease my bill but surprisingly, not all that much.
It costs less for me to do full coverage on my car and it's a 2001 Acura CL.
Since the Kymco is a new scoot, I haven't gotten it registered. To license and tag the SYM, it costs me $200 a year.
In closing, I have looked around for better full coverage. Progressive had the best rate.
Ride safe.
Don in KC.
-
The chances are better you (anyone) will damage a bike. Insc. companies rates are based on #'s. The biggest scam in history in my opinion. The first Insc. was started by Munks (forgot the sect) to care for the families of the brother when he passed. From there it was all down hill...
-
The policy for our 2008 Agility 50 only is $75 per year with Progressive for me, my wife and our 16 year old son. The agent quoted me $85 but $10 of that was roadside assistance, which we dropped because if he breaks down in town I will just pick him and the scoot up in my truck.
-
2. Kymco Xciting 500ri ABS / full coverage / model year 2012. $103 a month.
You all must have perfect driving records.
... and/or living in an area with usually careful drivers. Imho that's the most important factor. In Germany you may not drive without passed tests, not even with a L-plate. 50cc-25kph, 50cc-45kph, 125cc-11kW, 25kW and unlimited motorcycles all have their own permission or driving license.
This year 39.64€ liability for my Xciting 500 as I have the license 5 years with clean record. About 100€ without any record.
Full coverage would add 199.61€, as I have no history for that kind of insurance. Together 300€/year which is way less than your $1200.
-
Florida has a new law for Motorcycles... EVERYONE applying for a Bike endorsement MUST attend a Motorcycle training/safety course regardless of age/experience. Due to our moderate climate lots of people ride year round causing the highest Mc. accident rate in the U.S.
-
I had been paying almost $200 a MONTH through Progressive. To break it down : 2010 SYM RV250 @ $92/month AND $103/month for the 2012 Xciting 500 w/ABS.
So I called GEICO and in 15 minutes I reduced the load to $42 for BOTH scoots!
When I called Progressive back, the best they could do with what GEICO was offering was $500 less a year OR $160 a month.
It really does pay to shop around.
It cost me $75 a year to register the SYM. The KYMCO should be a little more but I haven't got it tagged yet.
-
I pay $324 a year for plates and insurance in Sask Canada on my 2011 DT300I. Government insurance, no competition.
-
$0.00 .
