I sure wish some AK 550 owners would tell me if they have or have not noticed that little "clunk" when decelerating...right about 23 MPH
So far ive seen 1 other person describe theirs doing precisely what mine does when it does it and i refuse to believe he and I are the only ones :-\

I've got a little over 1200 miles on my and I've never had a "clunk" why accelerating or decelerating. Other than the occasional pop'ing from the exhaust during the acceleration. I've never heard another noise.
Maybe try to take a video of it so we can better understand your term "clunk" ?

Darn it...ya, a video wouldnt really show anything.
Its just a little bump that happens after get I it up over 40-50 and it slows back down...right when the RPM indicator drops off 3000 at about 22 mph. I can feel it in my feet...Just one light "clunk"...seems like the faster i slow down the harder it is.
I know some clutches have an extra set of springs that fling open the feet off the bell, but that would happen every time and not just after its wound up...plus i dont think id feel that. We're talking a few thousandths of an inch of movement...hmmm
Really disappointed you haven't felt it.
Theres another guy here that describes the exact same condition and i was SOOO hoping its a normal function of the bike.
CRAP.
Thanks for replying

Another question...does your belt on your AK sit all the way to the left on the wheel sprocket or is it more centered?

Dealer service center checked it out and said its nothing to worry about...just the clutch releasing.
But i dont know...

I’d wait until you have a couple of thousand miles on it and then judge? Some of the odd noises I heard when new just disappeared as I got more miles on the engine & drivetrain with my X-Town 300i.

Ya...im sure its probably fine.
Im just ultramega anal about it because its the first new vehicle ive owned in all my 50 years. It'll probably wear off soon enough.
So how you likin' the X-Town 300i?!?! Bet that bad boy JUMPS!! :D
Do you just plain ole' LOVE it?!?

Yes, I do love it. So much so I’ll likely keep it for another year, but that’s a whole other story! (See my TTFN thread). It won’t have the grunt of an AK550, but does everything I need it to at a very competitive price.

Brand new AK550 here and no clunk under your described conditions. I do however have a fairly loud knock/clunk every time I hit a manhole or a big crack in the road. Dealer says they don’t detect anything unusual. You’d have to be deaf not to hear it…I apologize for the hijack.

Mine sits on the left too.

starting to piss me off that the dealer service center says its nothing...its not nothing. Its not supposed to do that so its a DEFECT

So, they rode it and felt the same sensation?......and said it is nothing to worry about...or they rode it and felt nothing unusual?
What are other owners saying on the other forums (facebook, advrider)~?

they rode it and felt the anomaly and said its nothing to worry about...its just the clutch releasing.
But thats nonsense because it only happens when i push it up over 40-50mph.
SO that makes me think its a CVT pully or variator ramp sticking...both better than the clutch i guess
The problem is that I have just never studied this kind of a clutch so i dont really have much to go on...Plus i just have NO DESIRE to tear down this bike.
All my other bikes id happily throw wrenches at until I figure it out :D
