Are there people who buy scooters for parts or scrap?

Seems I read about someone on almost every forum I read who does just that. Old motorcycles and old scooters.
If you read on the BurgmanUSA.com forum the admin/moderator over there has several old Burgman 650 scoots dating from 2003 that he rides and more than one, I think, that is a little newer than that which he keeps just for parts. He even has a working Burgman 650 engine on a roller dolly that he keeps in running condition... just in case.
