trailer hitch does this look safe to carry my agilty on. with a little extra suport.
-
From the rack??? How wide is it?
Only thing is it'll effect your handling and depending on the weight dynamics of whatever you put on there.
I'm sure it would be fine as long as you don't put anything nutty on there. Have you considered a milk crate?
-
Not to carry things on his Agility, to carry his Agility on a cage.
This type of carrier can be ok if it's not made cheaply. Hard to tell from just a photo. Longevity is what I would question, I'm sure even the worst would make a few trips as long as you didn't exceed the rated weight.
-
I brought my People 250 home on an aluminum (Harbor Freight) receiver like that. I put a block under the leading edge of the carrier where I put the ramp to get the scoot' on the carrier. It worked okay. I suggest putting something on the carrier that will generously hold the wheels of you scoot' so it won't be right on the edge of the carrier. If your vehicle is up to the weight, you'll be okay as long as you tie down everything very well.
-
This might work but the ones made to be a motorcycle carrier would be more stable.
-
I think ill stick to a trailer. if it dont look safe to me i well go safe and use a trailer.
-
Go with an actual motorcycle hitch trailer.
The rack that you show could be modified to carry the scoot, assuming that it can handle the weight.
It may be challenged by the rear weighting of a scooter though.

You would be better off with one of these. It works for me. Almost 1000 miles using this with no issues. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0021HNZ2U/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=kinderinfocom-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0021HNZ2U (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0021HNZ2U/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=kinderinfocom-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0021HNZ2U)

I am picking up my Super 8 150 in a little while on this.
$119 at the harbor Freight Store with a 20% off coupon.
The qualitty is excellent and only takes 10 minutes to assemble.

I haven't gotten a trailer hitch carrier yet, but it seems like the details of the aluminum ones will say not recommended for rear engine scooters. The steel ones like at this site seem to be a better choice over aluminum for scooters, which don't have the weight apparently distributed as evenly as a motorcycle

What about a hitch to make the scoot a trailer? What I mean is to pull the scoot on it's own wheels. There must be something like that around.

Oh the Sterns rig for one or two bikes I've been seeing. That's what I would get.

This might work but the ones made to be a motorcycle carrier would be more stable.
The ones made for motorcycles/scooters have an adjustment to tighten them to the hitch to reduce the wiggle, and secure arms to tie down to. Without those you risk it bouncing loose. Heck even with that you risk it bouncing loose.
Me personally - I wouldn't use one of these. I've owned one designed for motorcycles, and I wouldn't want one of them agaib either.

It sounds like you think it would be a terrible thing to do. IMO it would be better than risking my bike on that little shelf. The downside might be wear on the tires. If I can't do that, then I would use a trailer. They do make small trailers you know. The shelf thing is too much weight on the rear of the pulling vehicle and even the shelf looks too flimsy. Our Yagers are at most 350 lbs and IMO even that is too much. The vehicle will need special adjustments (big $$$, springs, etc.) to be safe. Or best, put it in your pickup.
BTW your Yager is lookin good.

The "little shelf" works great. Very secure. Very little wiggling and jiggling
-
I have used the Shelf type carriers. They are nerve wracking at best. There is an RV here that I did some brake work on last week, and he had a Reese hitch modified with two more receivers, and his "shelf" had two extra tongues. It was used to carry a real nice Harley Sportster. I was impressed with how sturdy it is. Felt like part of the frame.
-
Forgot to mention there are no pinns in the extra receivers. They are for stability only.
