Title: Parts for 2021 Like150i - Recovered from theft
Post by: James-2021KymcoLike150i on March 27, 2022, 09:47:13 PM
Hi all!

My 2021 Kymco Like150i was stolen and recovered, however there has been a decent amount of damage and I need parts for the repair. My scooter's been sitting at TJ Cycles (Austin, TX) for the past 6 months as they haven't been able to source any Kymco parts from the supplier, and cannot provide any expected timeframe.

Seeking the community's recommendations about any options that I may not have explored? Kymco USA is not providing any expected timeframe for receiving/shipping parts, so I'm close to selling the non-functional scooter (which only has about 100 miles on the clock) and buying another brand new from scratch, which would be a shame.

Attached required part list that I'm seeking.

Advice is much appreciated! Thanks

No settlement from your insurance co.?
You could try submitting your list to these folks - see what they say -  the go-to dealer for OEM parts for many of us....

Sorry for your loss ...welcome to the forum.....

Thanks for the advice. I'll share the list of parts with Solano Cycle.

I only had the scooter for about a week before it was taken, and since I had just moved to the US (from Australia), I needed to social security number or drivers license before I could insure it, so didn't have insurance sorted yet sadly.

that doesn't seem like a very crazy list of parts...have you tried a local Kymco dealer? (not sure if TJ Cycles is a dealer?).

I always find it odd when people are told they can't get parts...I have never had difficulty getting a Kymco part from my local dealer. I recently ordered a new exhaust valve and valve spring washer and the parts came in in under 2 weeks.

Now compare that to my Solano Cycle order (full gasket and or ring set to put my motor back together) which is going on 7 weeks, now, with the only communication coming when I reach out to them for updates. Still wish I'd placed that order with my local dealer...

Yeah TJ Cycles are the only dealer in Austin TX and they can't get the parts. Agree the list doesn't seem that crazy, at least to have the scooter in operational order. I'll reach out to a couple of other dealers in TX. Thanks!

Solanocycle doesn't list any specific parts for the 150i
The 150i appears to be an orphan child.  I find very little information available for it.

Are all the Kymcos orphan children then? Seems to me that unavailable & hard to source parts are the norm, and the shame of a pretty good line of bikes.

James, did you have any luck with other dealers in TX? TJ's doesn't seem to have a particularly good standing with Kymco. Either that or they don't seem to know how to get parts, which would be odd to say the least. It took them almost four months to get a mirror for my Like 150i last year.

Don't think they're all orphans. Depends on the dealer. Some dealers seem to have preconceived notion against Kymco and so are reluctant to put much effort into support for them.
There are other dealers who seem to be able to provide the same support as for other brands. I've known a few Honda dealers on both sides of that issue.
