I added this at the same time I installed the flashing LED bar brake light on my AK 550. Since I had the parts removed for that install I decided to do this install also.
I put this on my Burgman 650 as have many other Burgman 650 and Burgman 400 owners due to an issue with the normal seat latch release cable having a history of breaking due to rust on SOME of those scooters after many many years. This mod comes in handy once in a while any way and with everything on the AK being electronic I figured this would be good to install. There is one seat release on the AK that is mechanical... when the handlebar lock is engaged and turning the switch knob a little more to the left to release the seat. That is a cable pulled release and not an electrical release as the silver button is. BUT, even that requires that the switch knob be turned on (electrical) so...
Here is a link to the PDF file for this install. It is a simple install and does not require any electrical knowledge. Follow the pictures exactly and it will work perfectly.

Nice job anf exquisite report! Great pictures! My version similar but not as spiffy as yours. Works great when I have the bike running and need to get in the tub.

you guys got me thinking about underseat emergency access...so I just did what RJS987 did and installed a cable that can unlatch my seat in an emergency. It took about 10 minutes. I took off my seat tub and wrapped a cable around the latch release and ran the other end under the bodywork where it comes out above the airbox. It's tucked away where I will hopefully never need it. I drew a yellow line in the picture next to where the actual cable runs..thanks for the idea.

@Iahawk, yes helps alot in case...I do this nearly as standart here on my and friends scoots.
On DINKSs and other models your method is used. For models with two latches I pick it up before its forked retailer.

As indicated in my details of this install the AK 550 also has 2 latches. The right latch is the main one that is triggered and there is a cross over cable to the left latch so I installed the release cable to the right latch to pull on both.
On my Burgman 650 there is only one latch but that didn't change anything about the install.

Thanks rjs - I just made this mod per your document. Of course, it took me a while, but these kinds of things usually do. Anyway, it works really well and takes a little stress out of the "what-if" situations...
