Title: Another forum w/complaint Kymco "parts"
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on June 01, 2022, 05:45:50 PM
Recommended 2 Kymco models to someone scooter shopping.
He thanked me, but said a friend told him that getting parts for his Kymco is a problem.
...as is well-known......so is looking at Lance and especially Buddy scooters.
It's a puzzle...a few here get parts easily through their local dealer.....but way too often reading that getting Kymco parts in the USA is unreliable....and is the main reason for avoiding the brand!
My model is so reliable I've rarely needed a part for it....lucky. I  guess.

I'm one of the guys who can get anything he needs from my local Kymco dealer in a week or 2. They don't stock my parts, they are obviously ordered from Kymco (USA?). Why would my dealer be able to order parts and get them in a timely manner while other dealers say they can't get parts? It doesn't make sense to me...unless Souzamoto has some inside info as to a financial reason why some dealers won't get parts?

Are there big minimum orders needed? A big shipping charge they must absorb? Something is going on...otherwise everyone would gladly order and deliver our parts to us.

By the way, my local dealer is Sun & Fun Motorsports, Iowa City, IA.

Sun & Fun is where I went for my 500 fuel pump problem. It took forever & Kymco left them completely in the dark until it actually showed up. Sun & Fun is great, I have no problem buying from them or taking repairs I can't handle to them. But Kymco the company is unreliable.

I guess it depends on what parts are needed/ordered.
Sun & Fun was able to get a heated grips controller for my AK in 3 days from ordering to receiving.

But the dealer where I bought my AK keeps being told a front fender is indefinitely delayed coming in that they ordered for me last Nov 6.
The paint was chipped on the point exposing the white-ish base color before I took possession of it and rolled it out of the showroom. The dealer took many pictures of the fender, as well as the pictures they originally sent me 4 days before I arrived at the dealer to make the deal (which also showed the chip) and sent them to KymcoUSA but still waiting. At least that doesn't effect riding and the dealer does keep updating me on the status.

I`m in Michigan and when I bought my DT300 in 2011 there were many many places online to order from, but recently I needed a windshield and a few other parts. I went through that frustrating search many others went through and finally found my parts online at Leesons which I believe is in W Virginia?
Today I tore down the scoot to remove my rear tire and decided to replace some of the exhaust parts like the heat shields and a few other items, I plan to see if they can get some of those uncommon parts too.
