Copied and pasted here:
Had a chat with the Michelin reps at Amerivespa. First off I must have been living under a rock because I'd thought the tires actually had rubber in them. Nope, nothing found in nature at all.
But more to the point, they didn't suggest changing tires before 10 years. Yes, they admitted that performance faded somewhat, so that if you really press your tires you might want to change earlier. I'd just changed out 7 or so year old tires out of concern, so the info was perhaps a bit late, but still a good idea IMO.
The other factor he mentioned was that riding is good for the tire....will stay more supple apparently with regular use...something about regular stress on the chemical structure is a helpful thing.
I thought this was interesting.
Tires with worn out treads are one thing - replace - but actual tire life of a scooter tire may be somewhat longer than what we been led to believe by ......etc.

Good news!

Yep interesting reading Stig, but I’ve never owned a tyre for 7 years yet! They all seem to wear out way before then- even on my lightly used Triumph!
My last City Grip 2 on theX-Town just made 2 years old before expiring though I may get 4 years out of the front 😂

Saw this post and was curious. When I had my GTI300 I put city grips on it and really liked them. When I checked this time I didn't think Michelin had city grips in the correct size for my '21 X-Town 300i ABS. Did I misread and are they available in the correct sizes for a X-Town?

Looks like they exist in theory anyway assuming the load rating etc. is good.
Front Tyres - Rims dimensions 120/80-14
Rear Tyres - Rims dimensions 150/70-13

Bear in mind I’m in the UK Mike, but yes CG2’s readily available here!

Michelins are available in many sizes overseas that are not available here >:(
As for how long tires last. Even with 5 bikes in my riding rotation I don't have tires that last even 2 years so replacing them after 5 or so isn't a concern for me.
