Title: Newbie drive belt question
Post by: 10thArmored on August 05, 2022, 12:33:43 PM
I'm a new Kymco agility owner and have not owned scooter previously.  Is there any consensus on how many miles a drive belt might last?  I am an average size rider(150 lbs) amount of mild to moderate hills in my area.  Should I change out the belt at some point as preventative maintenance?

yes, drive belts are a wear item and should be replaced at certain mileage intervals. Your owner's manual should have this info.

I see the online owner’s manual for both the 50 & the 125 only mention inspection? For the 50 at 11K kms. From that I’d guess it should be good to 15 or 20,000 miles when I’d change as a precaution.

@10thArmored, as a rule of thumb:

for all scoots regularely ridden, change the belt every six years or 10.000 km, especially if you buy the scoot used.

It's inexpensive and safes you probably a lot of headache or get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
