Post by: Lino Azzopardi on August 07, 2022, 03:35:45 PM
Kymco Dink 200 i year 2011 Kilometers 28k
No eclectic at all.... Old battery was getting hot and  discharged overnight, New battery installed same thing happened run it for two days  with engine check flicking every now and then, again battery flat, very hot and dry couldn't start after 30 mins run stopped and battery flat. Try to boost it to start, Started ok but all of a sudden it died as if the key was trued off tried to boost again but no eclectics at all nothing on the odometer totally death. Kimco dealer told me its the ECU and to be changed it coast a lot that its not worth to repair scooter, Was even told that might be a shorted harness. Any ideas pls what is best to do? any used ECU for sale but not for that fancy prices? your help is very much appreciated. :'( :'(

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry for your troubles.
A shorted harness  could be your problem.....and might very have then killed your ECU as well.
What to do?
What are your mechanical skills?

@Lino Azzopardi, welcome here in this hive.
First of all, where are you located at, which country?

Then I do not believe firsthand in a dead ECU, only because a dealer, not a knowing person, tells me it might be like that.

Check or let somebody check your scoots rectifier/ regulator before you set further measures.

If your regulator is ok, check your generators tryfold plugs output.

Take out all fuses and look at their terminals.
There should not be any corrosion or green stuff nor should they be loose.

Look up all your cable harness under your seating area. There might be somewhere a blank cable touching ground and causes this symptoms.

Ask if something is unclear, here are many people who are willing to help.

Hi Stig,
Thanks for your reply as per my skill I cant say I am a mechanic got most of the tools and a garage ,If I be told were about the problem is I will dirty my hands and try, What ever the out come its worth the try at the moment its a death scooter and its still in very good shape its a pity that if i don't succeed I have to scarp it :'(
Do You think its he ECU? caz my self I don't think so.
I see it more like a huge electrical short. The new battery got hot and it dried up its acid in say 2 days,  when I boosted the odometer panel lit as normal ,started and second later went off as if switch off.
Can you pleas try to tell me from where to start looking? thx in advance.
Lino

Something cooking your battery?
Please see Ruffus' suggestions above.
And park it away from buildings until you get it sorted.
