I check once in awhile to see if the Kymco USA is showing what they plan on selling here as 2023's. So far the only 2023 model is the Super 8 150. Unchanged from 2022. Personally I'm hoping for one of their smaller models the People S 200, or the Agility 200 or the KRV 180.
Art
-
Doesn’t that mean that the Super 8 is the only new model to date and that 2022 versions of other scooters will still be sold?
-
Just my guess, not knowing much about the Quad sales, but like Honda, scooters are not keeping the business going, it's Quads. Also the warehouse may have prior year models that they would like to see sold.

I think we see this pretty regularly from Kymco (and other bike manufacturers), they slow roll out the new models as they sell down the previous year's stock. I recall looking at Kymco's site last year at this time and very few 'new' models were listed. Give it some time and they'll have the full line available for sale.

Kymco USA added a M/Y 2023 AK 550 today. Looks like a carry over, with a price increase.

$10.4K.....could easily be, what....$13K OTD with fees?
That $ would buy a number of nice motorcycles from the Big Four.
$2000.oo more than the well sorted - and well supported, Burgman 400.
Stig
-
Have to say the AK 550 is the only big maxie available in the USA. No 650 Burgman, TMax, no Silver Wing 600.
I forgot about the Piaggio MP3, which is available.

I was wondering if they would list the AK for 2023. Agree that it is unchanged from previous USA versions. Only 2 colors this year instead of 4. I guess the 2 most popular colors.
WAY better bike than the Suzuki B400 for about the same weight but much much better power and frame mounted engine. That really does make a difference IMO. So not really concerned about the added cost. $10400 instead of $9900 for last year. I guess taking advantage of being the lone real super scooter in the USA in this class.
The 400 is also a bit more pricy. $8600 instead of $8500 for last year.

Dealer support. Importer support. Manufacturer support. Trained techs.
In the U.S.A.?
I don't know about most - but where I live, Kymco vs Suzuki? No contest!
If $9K is pocket money, no worries.

Don't even get all of these in the whole of Europe! Model range in the UK this year seems much reduced.

Could still be tempted by the DTX360 (320) in Green...

My wish would be for one of the smaller models. Still like the flat floor scooters.

The People 150i?
I've looked at one. Compared to my Liberty150i..the People does have one more valve, an extra shock, a couple more HP...and a biggie for me - rear disc brake! But is $500 more.
The Piaggio does have the very good iGet Leader engine, (as used in Vespas) and Piaggio's experience of making more than 900,000 of them.

A dealer 75 miles from me has several 2021 People S 150's and asking $2999 for them. The dealer does not have the best reputation, so hard to say what the OTD cost would be. I like that it has a longer wheel base and taller seat height, than the Like 150i, but it does weigh a few lbs more. My home town dealer has the new Honda PCX and will sell without a set up fee. When I look at the PCX unboxing, it only needs the mirrors installed and the battery, so he's not loosing anything by not charging me the usual $200.
I'm in no hurry to buy, just feel before long I would really like a scooter that weighs under 300 lbs.

2023 models slowly added to the Kymco USA web site. Includes the Like 150 now.

-
Went to look and only the listing on the models page is there but not the details page. Must have JUST added those. But looks like the Like 150i now comes in solid Red, Yellow, and White for the USA.

I see that the "Euro 5" Liberty S 150i (155cc's) from PiaggioUSA are up to only $250 less than the LIKE150i now. Price on them has increased $150 since 2017.

The shipping price for all of Piaggio and Vespa went up also. For here it was a $200 increase over last year cost. I of the reasons I went with the Honda PCX. Got the freight and set up for $360.

The Liberty MSRP went up less that 5% over a 5 yr period. Not a deal breaker.....unless shipping went thru the roof :)?
Ease of service, parts avail., impressive reviews from ScooterWest & justgottascoot and the fact that Piaggio has made over 900,000 of these models, big-wheels, reasonable price, not to mention the best in class style helped me decide to go looking for the nearest LIBERTY150i.
When first scooter shopping back in 2013, I wanted a Honda! Then I sat a PCX - at 6'3" - the mid-seat butt-stop made me hop right back off of it! Good scoot - but made for little dudes in those days.

At least on paper the Kymco People S 150, has a longer wheel base, higher seat height and put the gas tank under the floor for more room under seat. I just could not accept the added cost and travel to purchase one. For me it's just better to deal local, and the new Honda was on the floor to try. The Piaggio Liberty cost was near same as the Honda in that the 2023 had a $900 cost for shipping and prep. Again the dealer was not close. It's really cold here today even with clear skies and sunshine. No riding today.

In summer of 2017 - the Liberty was the only big-wheel step-through on the market.
I would have looked hard at a People. * but...
I remember, the People One was being marketed in the rest of the world, I like the looks of it, but not in the USA. Now I see it is gone again for 2023....but likely many left-overs still avail.
*After my very close local dealer (sold all brands bikes & scoots) dropped the ball, so hard and for so long - after selling me my LIKE200i - taking me off of the road for months - I went out 35 miles and brought home a Honda Forza while I waited for KYMCO USA national customer care advisor to light a fire under my dealer.
Fortunately my LIKE has proven to be one of Kymco's most bullet proof....needing only my DIY care.
Stig

I feel Kymco makes really good scooters. The local dealer sold them for years. The reason he doesn't sell them now is because of the USA distributor and troubles he had with their early quads.

the AK550 and Burgman 400 are not remotely in the same class. The AK550 has been around for a few years and is well sorted. Well supported is an issue with any Kymco in the USA. Keep in mind that the closest scooter performance wise is the Yamaha Tmax which is not sold here. If it was the price would be up around 15K or more.
-
Agreed, Stupid journalists who really don't know what they are looking at have been known to compare the AK 550 with the Burgman 400 and that is mainly, I think, due to curb weight being about the same. But those 2 are not in the same class. The AN400 is LESS scooter so of course it will cost less new. The AK is better compared with the Burgman 650 or even BMW C650 or TMax super scooters. And even then when compared fairly the AK does really well in that group. I continue to be convinced that my 2022 AK 550 is a better scoot than my previous 2013 Burgman 650. More power, better comfort, more nimble, slightly faster, 115 lbs lighter, better performance. All that with a smaller displacement. I even consider my AK to be the better one compared with my old Honda ST1100! I consider my AK to be comparable to a 750-900 class regular motorcycle. So to get the same performance in a nice motorcycle from the Big Four you will pay more. My OTD price was $10,450 (before deducting the military discount that was offered). MSRP on that model was $9899. My Honda CTX1300 was about $14875 and that was WAY below MSRP at the time. To get a comparable typical motorcycle new you'd be paying a bit more than my AK cost me.
But of course you COULD pay less... IF you buy used.

USA Kymco site added the People S 150. $3749. Blue and green colors. Picture shows the wind shield. no handgards. Glad to see this model. It's competition is the Piaggio Liberty, which is $500 cheaper. May be a tough sell, but does have rear disc brake, and larger under seat storage, and the wind shield.

Actually those pics on the KymcoUSA web site shows the People S 150i DOES have hand guards. They are clear so VERY hard to see. The hand guard on the grip closest in the picture is viewed edge-on so being clear and only seeing the very end edge of it makes it really hard to see but the far grip more clearly shows it. The Piaggio has no windshield and no hand guards stock in addition to that rear drum brake. They otherwise look very similar in design to me with larger wheels than most 150 class scooters. When I am ready to downsize to a 150 I would be more interested in the People S.

I'm wondering what will fill the last model in the lineup. The X-Town 300 I believe is history. Hope it will be the DTX 360.

Seems all the manufactures, with the exception of Vespa/Piaggio, are not supporting the USA scooter market. Glad my Downtown 300i is not needing replaced.

If my LIKE200i ever dies - I'll be hoping for a left-over one, somewhere.
No interest in the 150i's.

That would be close to an OTD price at a dealer for a new one - after all the fees.
It is @ $120 less than what I paid 10 yrs ago for mine.
Maybe he'll get it - but I've seen new for $2500, before the fees.
Interestingly, Kymco originally MSRP'd the LIKE200i for @$3500....then suddenly reduced that some $800!

The Bikes? Or the Girls?
Don't understand the off-road tires on a big scooter.....and certainly would regret them in my first wet corner at speed on a 400lb maxi.
Semi-knobs does not make a street vehicle suitable for off-road.

I don't ride in the rain unless the rain catches me on a ride. Here looks like a good choice for those that do ride frequently on wet roads. https://www.michelinman.com/motorcycle/tires/michelin-city-extra

Interesting.
That's a new Michelin to me.
Kind of fond of Michelin tires, tor decades.
One scooter and two cars are riding on them.....though doubt any of the are made in France🙃

some good looking new Kymcos! It seems they are fuel injecting everything 125cc and up and the 150 and 175cc motors are liquid cooled, too. Too bad we don't see most of these scoots in the US.

Actually those CST’s on the DTX360 grip surprisingly well in the wet Stig. Still unavailable in the UK though so when they wear out, likely back to CG2’s.

Prefer Pirellis for the wet.

Just browsing the Kymco USA website looking at the 2023 People S 150 and noticed that a green color available. I still think this is a really nice model. Like the flat floor boards, and larger wheels. The gas tank is small, but fine for urban riding.

It is a nice looking scooter.
OTD price likely to be @$4250>$4500.
Wonder what nice used motorcycles that $4500 would buy from his showroom floor?
Scooters are rarely the best buy when it comes to two wheels 🙃 Never understood why - it's not like they're more popular than motorcycles with American riders!
Stig
-
and not just on the showroom floor...imagine typing a price limit of $4500 in FB Marketplace and looking at all the used motorcycles and scooters you can buy with that money...

I like new and spending the extra, to get new and not having to concern myself about how it was used is worth it to me. My Kymco Downtown was used with low miles, and I thought I gave it a good going over. With the low miles and years of sitting, when I got it in the garage I pulled the under seat bin out and and found rocks and gravel in places, including the CVT intake. Also began to see lots of scrapes and paint scratches. Prior owner may have lived on a gravel road or at least rode on a few. After investing in getting it good for my use and a bunch of hours I invested I can say I have a good machine.

Nice to see Kymco leaving behind the boring mono-color scooters. Costs no more to mix colored panels!
