Title: Obnoxious Ads
Post by: klaviator on July 19, 2023, 10:38:58 PM
Anyone else who thinks the Ads on this forum are really obnoxious?  I'm on 3 other forums and Facebook but none have Ads nearly as obnoxious and intrusive as the ones on this forum.

a great reason to use an ad blocker! I use Adblock Plus in my browser and never see an ad on this site.

Yes, got that on my laptop, but not possible on my tablet as I use Firefox browser and AdBlock Plus will only work on the tablet’s proprietary browser 🤬

Now that you mention it...what ads? Not seen a one on Samsung tablet! Using Duckduck Go for search engine. Do not recall ever seeing ads of any kind and never even realized it!

You're lucky Karl, on my iPad they gobble up about 25-30% of the available screen area and are sometimes for quite inappropriate stuff!

I use Firefox and DuckDuckGo for search. The extension with DuckDuckGo does a good job with unwanted adds.

Is Duck duck the reason I DON'T get covered with ads, a'la' AOL in the 90's?

Thanks, I’ll give Duck Duck Go a er, go!

Edit: partial success.  Ads gone, now just blank white space where they were.

In FireFox, I do have to click on the extensions icon which is is on the far right side of the  header to manage the extensions. You can turn them on and off easily.  One of my game sites does not like add blockers, and I turn it off.
