Title: Xtown 300i Mirror adjustment
Post by: Batman-NYC on September 03, 2023, 02:36:03 AM
Hello all, I am new to the Forum. I am writing to see what is the trick to adjusting the mirrors on a Xtown 300 so that they wont wiggle out of place by wind or a bump. I tightened the Nut at the base, but it doesn't cinch it down. Who has figured this out?
Thanks

Hi Batman and welcome to the forum.

I never had this problem with my X-Town, but would offer 2 thoughts:

1) if under warranty let your dealer sort the issue or if not,

2) consider using Locktite Blue or similar thread locking compound?

Let us know how you go?

I need to figure out how to tighten the mirror before I lock up the threads.

I have tightened the Base nut and it will not tighten to were the mirror stays in place.

The left will swivel for adjusting, but the right has not stiffened up at all and still moves with bumps and wind.

Threads stripped?
Do both mirrors tighten Righty-Tighty.....or is one Lefty-Tighty?

No, both clockwise threads. From memory, there are two nuts, one at the base of the stem and one about 20mm above with one locking t’other in place meaning it’s trial & error process.
