Title: carburettor tps sensor
Post by: jasbos on October 18, 2023, 05:19:03 PM
hi, I think my tps sensor may be faulty bike not starting on the electric starter intermittently, it either fires straight away or the button is unresponsive  2015 Kymco Agility 125 16-wheel kicking bike after a lot of effort starting I changed the battery still has the same issue, took to my local mechanic, first thought stater button the problem(he has had kymco agilitys in with this) button fine, carb stripped and cleaned new plug fitted mechanic thought problem solved it was not, stata ok the only thing he thinks it may be is the TPS sensor has anyone had a problem with this? and had to change it or can advise me on what else to check as I said happens once or twice a month luckily close to home so could push it back but need some ideas and any help I would appreciate

@jasbos, this carb-equipped scoots are usually bulletproof.
TPS can be resetted (pls see forum)

You say, you do have a kickstart option, right?
Does your scoot start by kicking it on?
If YES, something prevents electricity to reach your starter motor.

Culprits (possible):
- minus cable from battery to motor corroded
- plus cable to starter motor lose
- battery terminals lose
- starter relais cables lose or corroded
- stsrter relais itself
- battery charging system faulty
- brake light switch faulty
- kill switch off/on

This fault on a onecylinder/ one coil/ one regulator scoot is to be found.
Check this things or let check. If your mechanic cannot, change mechanic.

AFAIK your kill switch is above your scoots  starter switch, marked with ON/OFF  or OFF/RUN

Checking battery cables is not enough!
Go through all points I mentioned.
Each of it has to be checked seperately.

If kickstart works, even with some effort, my theory of weak cabling or corrosion might be right.

TPS reset
1. Switch to run.
2. Key to off.
3. Open throttle.
4. Key to on.
5. Wait 8 seconds.
6. Key to off.
7. Key to on.
Give it a try.
