Title: 6 yrs since Clooney & his X-City went down
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on August 21, 2024, 06:23:43 PM
The Yamaha X-City is a nice looking scooter.

Fortunately Amal (seen here on an XMax) was not on the scooter the day that car turned into him in Italy.

Not sure if he's back - but he swore off riding after this crash.

Looking at the place where he broke the car's windscreen.....if one still needs evidence that helmets are good....

Was there meant to be a photo or two with this Stig?

Edit. Ignore. I can see the pix today? Odd.

I had all but forgotten about that accident...glad he recovered. Good looking scoot, too! I had to look it up. Was available in 125 and 250cc versions, both liquid cooled. Marketed primarily in Europe, not available in Asia or North America. Was replaced by the X-Max.

Helmets definitely save lives.

What good is that helmet on Amal if she will have no skin left when she goes for a slide?

Hot day in a warm country - "let's go for a ride!"
Understandable.

My 18 yr old SoCal borne wife rode like that behind me all over New England in her little white short-shorts.
We had a bit of an excuse - that Honda bike was our only transportation!

Fortunately - the Army drafted me off of it to join the games in S.E Asia.
We never went down - thank goodness!

PS: we each wore a Bell helmet. She learned how to go for a nice dinner - and repair her hair in the ladies room. Mini-length culottes in leu of a mini skirt.
