Title: Broken piece on bottom of carburator
Post by: Magoogers on January 02, 2025, 04:07:36 PM
I have a bet and win 250, ive gone through the carb a few times now trying to find the culprit of the rough running conditions. This piece must have broken off when installing the carb at some point. What is the purpose of this part and where can I find a new one? jets are stock size, ive had the pilot screw from 1 all the way to 3 turns out and the running condition doesnt improve. Sometimes the scooter starts after 3 seconds, sometimes It never starts.

Thanks for the help!

my first thought is that is your 'auto bystarter'...the scooter version of an electric choke. The location doesn't match up with where it normally is, though. I've never seen one attached to the carb bowl and come up from the bottom? Is that the original carb for your bike?

After more digging, it seems to be the heater for the carb. I am going to test the bystarter today anyway to see if its working properly.
Im in canada so I think the heater would be helpful.

heres a pic from the manual.

Definetely the heater module. Certain (older) model did have that feature. Not essentiel but for originality.

I learned something new...I've never heard of an electric heater on a scooter carb! My Helix has a coolant line going to the carb to warm it up..but first I've seen of an electric one. Ruffus to the rescue!

Back to your starting problem, did you do a thorough strip and clean of all passages in the carb?

My old Kawasaki GPZ900R could’ve done with one (or 4?) as it was really susceptible to carb icing on cool mornings!
