Title: #85 main jet
Post by: Dale4 on June 17, 2011, 08:57:34 PM
Anyone have an 85 main jet in their Agility 50? I ordered one from Monster scooter parts because that was their next size up from an 80,and I need to know before I pay someone to put it in and find out that it doesn't work. It is fully derestricted and I struggle to get 35-37 mph and the only other thing I can think to do is change the main jet. I'll take all opinions because I'm at the end of my rope with this thing    Thank You

It would be worth putting it in yourself, at least then if it is no good you can just swap it back. No charge.

Try an iridium spark plug for a small boost too... cheap and effective

I have an iridium plug and run the best gasoline too,and I don't know how to pull a carb. All the youtube vids show the carb off already...BUT ...I really want to know if the #85 main jet will work on my derestricted Agility 50 or if I'm wasting time installing it only to have to take it back out.    Again..will an 85 main jet be good or do I need something smaller?   Thanks

I had pretty much the same set up you're talking about with your scoot and put an 85 jet in and didn't notice a difference. Maybe you will have better luck but if it were me and I was going to pay somebody to do it I wouldn't spend the money knowing what I know now.

I have the 82 jet and it works fine for me 85 might be to big but yet it might work. just keep a eye on your plug .

I tried to find a #83 and even an 82 but they're not too descriptive on which model scoot they fit so I gave up and got the #85. Now when I put this in,is there any way to know if its good without doing plugchops? Will it lose power, make a certain sound etc? Could it damage my scooter by being too big?   sorry to lean on you guys so much but I have no one else to ask and there isn't a scooter shop in sight here in Pittsburgh (just motorcycle shops)

It will depend on where you live....Altitude,humidity,etc.,etc..
Several ppl use a 85 with good results. I should be using lower because of my altitude but i have a "90" in mine at the moment... An old forum member wordslinger is running a "98" in his.. We have been drilling our jets so as to why the " ".. Seems alot of ppl like the 85..
I am having an issue with mine,"92" bogs down like to rich,"90", plug is lean colored but some ppl swear that 4t's will do that, not like a 2t. ??? ??? :-\

#85 should in many cases with standard cylinder be a very good choice, and i believe that a guy from a danish forum had been told from Kymco, that it is what they would put in them in taiwan.

Ive got a powerfilter, so it might not be worth anything what i say, but ive tried both #84 and #86, as i couldnt get a #85, and they both worked fine. But i ended up with #84, as it uses a little bit less fuel than the other, when going full throttle.

If you want more speed without changing cylinder, a malossi variator is the way to go :) it will get you near 50 MPH if not more :D

Baddi- How or where are you getting these increments of sizes in jets?

I think 85 may be too large, I run an 82 and that suits my scoot fine. Kymco officially tell their dealers, in the uk anyway, to fit an 82 main jet during derestriction.

And as Baddi says, fit a race variator to get nearer to the 50mph mark and get better acceleration. I got maybe 5-8 mph extra top end.
