Title: What oils do you guys use in your agility 125
Post by: 2010Iron883 on June 26, 2011, 05:14:11 PM
I bought my 07 125 brand new. It has been very good to me and i got it for $1500 cash USA. I broke it in by the book and went to amsoil 10w40. My dealer said 10w40 was fine and the bike now has 16,000 k on it. It doesnt use a drop of oil. I just wandered how many of you have had good experiences with amsoil 10w40 or any other 10w40.

Im not planning to change. I ran 10w40 because 15w40 is so much thicker. i knew what the bikes call for i just wasnt feeling the running of diesal oil in my scoot. Im not changing my oil i just wandered how many of you are using amsoil 10w40.

Love amsoil. I use the same exact in my 09 Agility 125 as you do. In my opinion, amsoil is one of the best brands out there.

Yep. Ive had alot of good experiences. I have it in my 2010 Harley Iron. It dropped the oil temp atleats 50 degree f. I really like it andi also run the amsoil gear lube in the rear end of my agility. It really freed it up and made it roll very well.

I purchased a used 2007 Agility 125.  I made my first oil change with Shell Rotella T 15W-40, after doing some research. This is what the store where I purchased the scooter recommended also.

About 600 miles on new 125. First change was early around 100 mi with basic 15w40 to get factory oil out. Next around 400 mi with Pensoil 10w40. Already have a quart of Amsoil "Scooter" oil 10w40 ready to go in. Amsoil Severe Gear oil went into rear end already. Currently debating to go to Amsoil in another 50 mi or one more petrol based change prior to going synthetic around 900 mi or so. So far no additional oil has been required between changes :~)

talked to an amsoil dealer and there is no diffrence in the scooter oilS . I dont understand why they manufacture it if theres no diff. Ive always ran the regular amsoil 10w40 in mine. They are all jaso ma safe . I know scoots dont require jaso ma but i just think that kinda proves my point. Amsoil is the bomb though.

When I spoke to someone at Amsoil was told the Scooter Oil was engineered for smaller engines and lower RPM's thus optimized for scooter use.

So, they said in fact that scooter oil is actually low quality oil that cannot withstand higher revs? :) ("optimized for scooter use")

:) :) :)

No, actually something about optimized to deal with the dirty deposits in small engine that develop more readily because of lower oil capacities in scoot motors. Who knows? Could all be just marketing B.S. The $3.25 lower cost over their 10w40 "motorcycle" oil was attractive to me. Unfortunately I did not actually discuss price when I had a dealer get some for me and he charged me $11 a quart :~( Assumed pricing would be as appears on Amsoil main web site.

On the other hand, there is one 1 l of oil in scoots taking care of one 50-250 cc piston, while bikes/cars use 4-5-6 l of oil to take care of four-six 1000-2000 cc pistons. :)

I think you were right when you said it is a load of bs. :)

Rotella is the number 1 oil in over the road diesel trucks. It is a severe duty oil and there are many trucks with over a million miles still going strong. I use the same thing in my scoot. Be safe!

I use Rotella 15W40. never any issues.

Amsoil is good but you got to remember that...
Amsoil is a small company with only blending facilities, they don't have refineries to produce synthetic base stock oils.. Who do they buy these pao base stock oils from???

Their major supplier of PAO base stock is Exxon/Mobil, the largest producer of synthetic oils in the world. They purchase some Group III base stocks from Shell, Petro Canada, and others. About 90% of their additive packages come from Lubrizoil.
