Title: storage/basket
Post by: qweezyq on July 31, 2011, 12:58:55 PM
Hi Everyone. Just got a 2009 Agility 50 as a wedding gift. Pretty excited. I want to add a basket or some kind of extra storage for errands and grocery shopping. Curious what other users put on their bikes. Links to products and pictures are much appreciated.

Thanks

I fitted topbox similair to the one on ebay, got it 2nd hand off ebay cheap. Hardly use it much, only use it now and again but it handy to have. Once you fit the mounting bracket on your scooter the box just clip on and off in a second if u want to put it on.

Just make sure if you buy one theounting kit/bracket is included with it.

do these top boxes fit a good amount of groceries? i feel like some sort of basket would fit more.

I can usually fit a spare large helmet, spare gloves and a set of waterproof in my topbox. Can carry 1-2 small bags of groceries in it, then another under my seat and one more hooked on the clip on front the front panel so it sits between my knees. You wont get tall items in the box, I use bungie cords to tie down bigger stuff on my luggage rack. Grandfather clocks, baby grand piano's, fridge-freezers etc wont fit on tho?  ;D

I think you could fit some kind of basket on the front, like a cycle basket, but it would block your headlight so could only be used daytime and you prob would need to remove it at night. I always ride with my light on for safety, day an night, so I would prefer to leave it clear.

You could look at panniers? They fit on the side. Not sure of any specific for scooters tho. Or you could ride with the backrest/pillion seat up and attatch a large plastic box from a diy store on it when going shopping. May not look too pretty but it would work and you can take it off once you get home.

The 1st orange scooter looks pretty cool, this would be good for going camping etc, you could tie loads to it. Not sure about the wicker baskets in the 2nd tho  :-\

Amazing how much you can actually carry on a scooter. I think that front pannier looks good.

Found this cheap DIY option, http://scootercommunity.com.au/forums/p/5662/28850.aspx (http://scootercommunity.com.au/forums/p/5662/28850.aspx)
