Title: loosing air rear tire
Post by: roboscoot on August 26, 2011, 02:14:20 AM
my scooter is about one week old....and i am noticing i am loosing air in the rear tire the downtown calls for 32 psi...i tend to over inflate just a tad...front tire ok....put on center stand and can't find any nails or such.....put more air in tonight and waiting to see if it holds by tomorrow...

yes i know i can go back to the dealer...as brand spanking new ,,,but prefer not to ride the scooter out there its an hour or more ride.....wondering if it could be the rim...but doubt it the tire is virtually brand new.....any suggestions?

Take a little soapy water and test the valve core and valve stem. could just be a loose valve core.

Check the valve stem to make sure it is all the way in.  Buy some metal valve stem caps from an auto parts store.  My tires always hold pressure better with them.

finally figured it out....i had put on center stand a few days ago looking for nail....did again this am...after loosing some air.....found a screw in tire thread...took up to my auto mechanic and after determining was tubeless he pulled out a fairly big screw and put a plug in the whole , tested it and re-filled......holding and all is well...

this was totally my fault i had knocked over a bucket filled with screws in my garage and thought i had got em all off the floor ...apparently not.....thanks all for your help!
